India tour of Australia - 2018/19

But no matter how the spinner you expect sub-continent teams (Specially India) to at least not get cleaned up by a spinner alone.
After the retirement of the Big 4, Indian team has shown a trend where they most often than not have struggled against quality spin bowling (M.Ali, N.Lyon, R.Herath etc). It's probably because of the popularity of T20 cricket where every batsmen is focused on slogging it out. No doubt, India's ability to play spin bowling has deteriorated significantly post 2010.

I think India would've won all the oversea tours with proper team management. .
Really? This shows complete disregard for your opponents who fans would still be finding faults in their teams saying how they could have been even better with better team management etc

It’s just not as simple as what you are saying imo

Yep, I mean what I say. Not that opponents are weak but the team is able to win the matches with proper team selection. If you select a wrong team against a strong side, you ought to get defeated irrespective of your strength and weaknesses. Could you imagine team playing 5 seam bowlers on a spin friendly track? The result would be in favour of opposition because the bowling department is mismanaged.

Agree with this. Lyon's wickets have mainly come from the recklessness of the Indian batsmen in both Adelaide and Perth and some have come from good deliveries.

The odd thing is that India has struggled against specifically Lyon and Moeen away than at home where they would play them without any trouble (barring Lyon's 2017 India series). You'd especially expect someone like Herath and Moeen to be dangerous in India, but for both bowlers, it was a grueling struggle when they visited. Looking at the last three away tours, it seems like India just don't take the specialist spinner hard enough because the fast bowlers are more threatening. Lyon is already having instant success and Moeen was very good this summer too. It looks like the Indian batsmen don't take the spinners seriously and that's when all the poor shots come out.

Aussie media are getting stuck into Kohli. They just never learn. He's going to now use this to jee himself on.. Not saying it's a guarantee but in general, him in that mood is a very dangerous omen.

He shouldn't have done what he did to the Aussies. Don't know about Kohli but this would certainly fire the entire Australian camp and they would give their best to keep Virat Kohli on his toes. He would now really struggle to put any impact on the opposition from now. It backfired him back in 2017 and most probably would hamper his performances in this series as well. He never learned from his past mistakes.

Yes, but he pretty much undoes everything positive with selection blunders. The thing I don't understand now is how can you leave someone like Bhuvi out when bowlers on both sides are getting the ball to move quite a lot for the first 25-30 overs. Bhuvi can swing it both ways and his accuracy is relentless.

Playing XI - With this lineup you get Vihari's part time off spin and you have Ashwin and Bhuvi coming in at 7 and 8 who are pretty much all rounders, but Pandya is probably going to get direct entry cause he's the our captain's all time favorite. Vijay has had a lot of chances now and he should be axed.

Rahul
Vihari
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Pant
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Shami

Bumrah

I'm a huge Bhuvi fan, but my instincts say that the time to play him has sailed. I would play Ashwin and Jadeja along with 3 quicks. Or, I'd play 6 batters which involves Vihari along with Kuldeep and 3 quicks. I think MCG and SCG will turn. And, I think it would be really unfair to drop any of the frontline 3 quicks for Bhuvi, as good as he is.

The form of India's quicks has kept Bhuvi out mostly. The best chance for Bhuvi to play in this series was at Perth which is already gone now. Doubt he'll break through and play this series unless of an injury to one of the trio pacemen.

Jadeja should certainly play at Sydney and at the MCG keeping in mind of Ashwin's injury. Playing Kuldeep would put India in the same spot as at Perth with 4 number 11's. There might even be a chance Pandya could play too with him in the squad.

The moment Pandya plays, we're screwed. He's neither a test bowler, nor a batsman.

That cockroach Manjerekar is suggesting Vihari as opener.
A better makeshift opener if needed is also Pujara. He even has a century at the top too. Bring Rahane at #3, and Vihari at #5. Has Vihari even opened before in domestic cricket?

Apparently Jadeja was drafted into the squad despite being fully fit. Goti shining in his press conference again with outlandish statements

Questions abound as Shastri reveals Jadeja's lack of fitness

Absolute rubbish. This is Shastri & Kohli trying to hide their failures so clearly. Why was he included in the 13 when he was injured? And why was he panthering around as a sub in the field on the boundary with rocket throws? Talk about insulting the intelligence of the general public.
