India tour of England 2018

Wow Vijay dropped from the squad after not doing well in first 2 matches where everyone failed is ridiculous! More so because Vijay was our best opener at the start of the series and no one could even imagine questioning his place. This is stupid from the selectors.

And I just mentioned yesterday that sooner Shaw is put into the scene the better. I am not saying he should be in XI for now but he needs to learn from the best. He and Vihari are some good prospects. Although as @Ashutosh. said feel bad for Agarwal who has been in tremendous form as well. But hey Shaw is replacing an opener.

Social media buzzing with "doomsday" predictions for Murali Vijay's career. A comeback from this point would be spectacular if Vijay is able to pull off. He is 34, but as a batsman and a test specialist at that, you can play till 38 and even beyond if you are fit enough. Hope he has it in him to revitalize himself with some big scores in domestic cricket. He was off colour in the IPL and didn't find a place in almost all games barring 1. Something is seriously off with him in recent times.

He was indeed one of India's best openers in recent times when it came to batting in overseas conditions. Hope he can have a last hurrah before his career ends.

I think it's unfair af to drop Vijay but I knew it will happen. What I cannot understand is why Mayank didn't get a look in. You remove the IPL and see his domestic and India A record over the past year. IPL is not a barometer to test selection!

Anyway, it will be sheer madness to play either of Shaw or Vihari for the remaining tests. Bhuvi not returning is basically even more frustrating than him missing 3 tests. I really hope that he's managed well from this point on. There's a tour to Australia, IPL 19 and a WC right after!! Bhuvi is crucial!

Worried about Kuldeep Yadav! Played a test on a track Shane Warne shouldn't have and will not even be in the frame come oval, a track he should definitely have been considered for if the forecast was sunny. Right now, we have won a test match and nobody really cares, but we might have dented the confidence of perhaps one of the greatest spinners born in our country. I think this is definitely the end of Murali Vijay! :facepalm

From the way I read it, I think Kuldeep has not been axed for bad form or anything. He has just been released from the team because they have understood that a third spinner for this series is a luxury and despite injuries, India should be able to play with just Ashwin and if needed bring in Jadeja as the second spinner. And India's batting was the big weak spot in the first two tests. So they have basically re-inforced the batting at the cost of a third spinner who was anyways a luxury in these conditions.

Kuldeep should get his opportunity sometime soon in the future.

I too think this is the end of Vijay. And the more I think of it, the more it pisses me greatly. I mean come on - he was by far India's best opener in recent times. To me, Vijay is a better opener than even Sehwag and Gambhir. When was the last time India had such a solid opener who showed a rock solid technique when it came to playing overseas conditions? Just some scratchy form from him, and they have almost shut the door on him. Other players get hundreds in subcontinent conditions and immediately Shastri-Kohli wax eloquently on them and say that "conditions should not be taken into account; a good score is a good score". By that standard, Vijay just scored a hundred against Afghanistan in India. And both Rahul and Dhawan were equal failures as Vijay in both Edgbaston and Lord's. But what did Vijay do for the doors to be shut on him like this? I just cannot see how he is going to recuperate from this.

It's unfortunate that Vijay has to go but it's understandable to a small extent. He didn't fire in 11 innings, apart from the England series. Personally, I feel Vijay should've played another test match because he deserved one last chance to establish himself. He looked out of sorts for the most part in the last few months. The thing I find most ridiculous is dropping an experienced batsman for an 18 year old with huge potential, but only has a bare minimum of experience. In that case Vijay should've stayed instead if calling up Prithvi Shaw, it's too early for him to be called up. But all in all, I think Vijay's exclusion is justifiable considering his dismissals and he just looked out of form altogether.

Too early for Shaw to be called up. I'm very surprised Agarwal hasn't been called up yet, he's made loads of runs in domestic cricket and on the England Lions tour. IMO, he should definitely be ahead of Shaw in terms of selection. Vihari deserved his selection but I'm confused as to who is he backing for. If anyone in the middle order gets injured, the first person that should be selected is Karun Nair. A bit confusing but a well deserved selection nonetheless.

I think both Shaw and Vihari gets call to give more pressure to pujara - rahul and Dhawan to perform better, probably Vihari debut in oval test.i was watching Shaw and Vihari interview with Rohan Gavaskar from banglore Ground where Aus A playing, they both very optimistic to do good for india but not sure if they gets their chances in the team

India A chasing 152 now 21 for 3
Tune Star sports 1 or Star sports 1 HD

India should exprement Jadeja instead Ashwin for Ageas Bowl.I predicts MO certain in place of Rashid for 4 innings in next 2 tests.

Sir
We have Nair and 16 others we can not efforts to pay certain Lakh's free give away for un-nessasary selection which we not even need for 4 innings in england

If India rested top gun once again we can call Agarwal for Asia cup or Zimbabwe test in india

He is already included in two 4 day un official test vs Aus A for september.virat, Dhawan ,manjrekar etc all played in A game to proved their worth

Murli Vijay will make his way back in the team it's happen because you can not judge
Shaw and others without practical performances

May be Rahul makes way for Vijay or vice versa.FORMS IS TEMPORARY BUT CLASS REMAIN SAME.

BCCI forced Vijay into team on first place while he was NOT GOOD IN SELECTION FRAME for england tour.He is not over,he will return.

Kumar wife Nupur upset with BCCI because Kumar pysically not recover yet ravi s and VK forced him to play 3 Rd odi vs England according to Nupur his injury aggrivat he is out of cricket for 90 more days he is in banglore rehab center now, missing 4 and 5 test.

Don't agree one bit. We are not Zimbabwe or West Indies as cricket boards with all due respect looking to save every dime. We could have just kept Kuldeep in the squad. If you have seen, I'm his biggest fan yet I said that he should only play if we need a third spinner i.e never on this tour. Dropping people shatters morale.

I wanted to stop reading at better than Sehwag but out of respect for you I didn't. Vijay will have to be reincarnated ten times to be anywhere near Sehwag. I think this is your love for your state speaking. Vijay is definitely better than Gambhir and while I dislike comparing or ranking people from different eras, Vijay is probably our third best test opener of all time. Really sad to see this happen to him and I fear he might be the first casualty of many of this captain/coach management.

If I were Prithvi Shaw or his well wisher, I'd be hoping as hell I don't play on this tour. It's a very precarious situation. This management is perfectly capable of finishing him before he begins!

The Indian cricketing fraternity sees something special in Prithvi Shaw. Mark Waugh even compared him to young Sachin Tendulkar. If we had not got a good opening partnership in the last test, Prithvi Shaw would have surely come in. However, in all probability he will not play the next test.
