India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

very difficult for me to weep tears for NZ over the BCCI/ECB/CA take over. they've been completely complicit lap dogs and as you've pointed out, do the same things when given the chance.

I don't blame NZC really, I mean what was the other option? Look at PCB and SLC what is the future for them now? I don't think anyone should be blaming the other boards blame the 'Big 3' for starting this mess.

aren't india?

I was kidding, hence the smily face :D

aah, my internet was running slow and images didn't load properly at the time (your avatar was also missing) sorry about that.

on the other point, I actually understand why NZ may have done this. I think they probably consider themselves "in" with australia and england enough that they think they'll not get too shafted. SAF kinda sit out there by themselves and india blow hot and cold with their asian counterparts, whereas NZ seem to get a fair amount of decent treatment. I was mainly noting it because someone else was trying to paint a contrary picture and being (imo) a bit hipocritical. Also, in truth, I would have liked to see a little resistance rather than the instant surrender. Pakistan, south africa and sri lanka were willing to stand up a bit, they could have clubbed in with them, at least to force some negotiations.

I plan on replying to this post in detail with stats and what not when I get the time, but who exactly do you consider to be "top teams"?

By top teams I mean the teams in the top 5 of the ICC Test rankings.

Hope this latest faux pas doesn't end Ryder international prospects.

come on, man. he's 29 and this is must be the 7th or 8th time something like this has happened. I was a big fan of his but this has to be it. he couldn't even manage to be back a full series before causing trouble.

plus, now the stakes are a lot higher as bracewell is a talented prospect and he's dragging him down with him.

^Have to agree. There comes a point where a guy keeps doing the same things and you come to realise 'oh he's not going to change'. Happened with Andrew Symonds, has happened now with KP. David Warner, even Mitchell Marsh might be interesting case studies going forward as they are younger.

Of course you can argue whether it's because team policies are too rigid etc. That might be valid sometimes, but 10 out of 11 guys seem to manage to go along with the flow. Why is Ryder so special that he thinks rules don't apply to him?

New Zealand v India, 2nd Test, Wellington : Neesham and Latham in Test squad | Cricket News | New Zealand v India | ESPN Cricinfo

Any of the Kiwi fans would have preferred to see Guptil called up?. I know his test record isn't the greatest, but he can't do much worse than Fulton & Rutherford who look pretty vulnerable.

Hope this latest faux pas doesn't end Ryder international prospects.

Make basin reserve & green seamer & pick Neesham instead of Sodhi i'd say.

Nope, wouldn't have Guptill anywhere near the test team personally. I was calling for Latham at the start of the series to replace one of the current openers. I'd also probably go with either Daniel Flynn or Michael Papps over Guptill.

Latham has been in great FC form this season and Guptill probably hasn't played in a four day game since mid December.

Guptill is best working on his long game away from the Test arena, ruined his confidence last time he was included. Latham is the guy, tonnes of potential...

I'll be genuinely surprised if you ever see Bracewell or Ryder in the black shirts ever again... Ryder won't play for NZ again, after everything he's been through to get that blatted in public is just moronic.

Bracewell is pretty much a test bowler and to be honest guys like Neesham and Wagner are hungrier and performing better.

What happened to Bracewell? I remember his performance in Hobart that won NZ a Test, and there was a lot of hype surrounding him. I figured he would become the spearhead of the New Zealand pace attack, but it seems like he's well down the ladder now with Boult, Southee, and Wagner as the preferred three for Tests, and Milne, McClenaghan, and Bennett are probably ahead of him in limited overs cricket. I thought Bracewell had a lot of talent. What's caused this fall? Is it attitude, bad form, or something else?
