I guess my point was more than they were clear favourites with the bookies etc, (yes hindsight is great) but if you actually look at the teams properly now it's not completely surprising why we've been so dominant. I hadn't seen much of some of the Indian players before this series but a lot of them were getting talked up, and now without much doubt only 2 - 4 of their players would make our team! Yes they're probably much better players than they've shown so far, but if you look at their records other than Kohli and Dhoni they're all pretty much just trying to make their way in international cricket.

Obviously the Test matches will be the proper test of both teams, so I won't say anymore until then.
 
Strange times that India's Test 11 is stronger than their ODI team due to the presence of Chetty Pujara. That being said, if we can't take wickets, we can't win test matches.
 
Actually the only players that I think need to worry are Dhawan, Ishant, Raina, and Ashwin.

Rahane needs more chances to come to a solid conclusion. Shami, Kumar, Aaron, Yadav are our best bets moving forward; occasionally trying out one more seamer if needed.

Rohit, on the other hand, has had a lot of chances just like Ishant, but I'd still like to continue with him. Yes, he starts off slowly, but he has this gift to accelerate brilliantly once he goes past 50. If he could only control the aggression and not try to hit every ball for six, I think he will do a world of good to himself and the team.

Kohli, Dhoni, Jadeja are automatic choices. And FFS, don't ever consider Stuart Binny. He is okay in T20s but not in ODIs

Completely forgot about Bracewell, kind of surprised he made the test squad. I would have thought he'd have been a bit further down the pecking order.
 
There doesn't need to be a clear #1 in ODIs, War, because nobody gives a shit. If you win the World Cup and the Champions Trophy, it doesn't matter if you lose every other match.

That being said, some worries ahead of the World Cup in 2015. I still back Dhawan to come through this baptism by fire. I expected this to happen, and there is no shame in it. But he must react strongly and decisively. As a whole, the team is far too dependent on Virat Kohli. Shami and Jadeja's performances have been heartening, but as usual, the bowling line-up remains a serious worry for India.

I don't know how many times it can be said, but it truly beggars belief how Ishant keeps making the squad, let alone the XI.

That's like with Rugby, it's all about the WC. The All Blacks can win 90% of their matches in the four year cycle, but if we don't win the WC then the coaches tenure is deemed a failure.

Last year we won 14 out of 14 games becoming the first team to go through the professional era unbeaten, beating every other top team, which is imo much harder to do than winning the WC which is pretty much just a QF, SF, and Final. Atm we hold every trophy possible, but it's all building towards the WC next year.
 
Why is Kholi bowling, his List-A bowling average is 187.00 runs per wicket, and he concedes over 6 per over, not to mention possessing a worse bowling action than Chris Harris.
Seriously, the stats prove it, he is the worst bowler ever.
Worse than Ishant.

You joking right? I don't think Ishant would have been hated universally if he had given around 4 RPO in his bowling spells.

But yeah it's horrible to hear that we depend on Kohli to bowl 5-6 overs, I agree.
 
If I'm being honest, I have to say that our bowling is currently not of international standard. That's not to take anything away from New Zealand, who have played brilliantly, but even the most ardent New Zealand fan would have to admit that they've carted a very very mediocre attack.
 
This is the 13th time when India have conceded 300 or more runs in an ODI after the new rules were implemented in October 2012. Australia are a distant second in the list with 6 times. No wonder Indian fans are pulling their hairs off over the performance of their bowlers.
 
What in the fearsome tweak was that shot, Rohit? What possible good can come off an attempted late cut with two slips and a gully in place?

I'm done with this team today. Life is too short to support shitty teams.
