India tour of South Africa

I think when Indian supporters themselves derive some sort of joy when their team loses shows how poor the leadership and management is..

Atleast he is facing reality and this is what I like about Kohli he is straightedge!

Only lunatics and fanatics thought India would offer some competition. Did they? Yes the bowling was surprisingly okay from the Indians![DOUBLEPOST=1515425752][/DOUBLEPOST]

Be brave and quote me!

Kohli is probably the most delusional captain I have ever seen so I don't know how you see him as a straightedge bloke.

Exactly. I don't feel any pain in watching Dhawan and Rohit fail. They simply do not deserve to be there.

Also shows how big mouth talks do no good before the series. Both our coach and captain need to realize that. And ffs get the players who can actually win us games in the XI!

Post-Mortem: I think India need to take a deep look at what they did wrong in this game. They obviously should not be discouraged by the 1-0 result because there were moments in the game where they stormed right back into the game and today they did have a period of play where they felt the target was chaseable. Pandya's fighting knocks, the bowler's performance to set India a chaseable total and Ashwin-Kumar's plucky lower order batting were all good positives from the game. The obviously glaring weakness was something which could've been avoided easily - SELECTION! We did not have the right personnel for the conditions and the painful thing is this was a blunder done by us.

According to me, our XI should look like this for the next test if we need to comeback in the series and take it 1-1 to Wanderers (we can do it, provided we select right)

M Vijay
K Rahul
C Pujara
V Kohli
A Rahane
W Saha
H Pandya
R Ashwin
B Kumar
M Shami
U Yadav

Yes, I will drop Bumrah despite his 3 wicket haul in the second innings. Yadav gives you much more pace and more attacking options. SA did well by being relentless and we can do the same. Or pick Ishant for his steep bounce; anyone but Bumrah. It's now obvious that we missed Rahane badly in the middle order and he should reclaim his place. I would also drop Dhawan and get Rahul in.

I am afraid India failed as far as their overseas tests performance a bit after having this defeat in South Africa in this first test match, Though I was expecting a far better performance with Kholi as captain and performer. Its gonna be extremely tough to win this series, South Africa would go to any length to retain it towards them. I remember Inzy's last tour to SA as captain where we managed to beat SA in the second test but in the deciding, Pak got a green top wicket and it was all over for them, It went close though.

Positive India can take from here is their bowling performance, The batting should get the adjustment in the next one.

Pretty much my team minus Yadav plus Ishant. Ishant gives me control as well as bounce. I think he's become a really good test bowler. Yadav leaks runs and people under estimate the value of a control bowler.

Also, Shami cannot be moody. Far too often he just doesn't run in. I'd give him a sound earful. The pundits were raving about Bumrah but IMHO, AB could have run up and bowled and taken 2-3 wickets with the amount of juice in the wicket.

Lastly, Pandya at 6, Ashwin at 7 and Saha at 8. Saha is a walking wicket here with his front foot game..

I hope India get a resounding hammering. We fans have been hoping our team wins but it's short sightedness. In the long run, a blazing ass will tell you Dhawan and Rohit like batters are not going to win you test matches.

Shikhar Dhawan has made runs on flat decks against club sides since his return.. LOI or test matches and Kohli and Shastri make it sound like he's Bradman.

Well let's see, I do want Kholi to perform though, All the Steve = Bradman comparisons are surprizing for me

I predicted the same scoreline. I think we can win the series if we play our best and get some blunders from SA. I wish I shared your confidence as far as the batsmen went.

I for one will wait to see whether Rahul and Rahane play ahead of Dhawan and Rohit. Also, while I despise Ishant, he should start alongside Bhuvi and Shami.

At least Vijay, Pujara and Kohli will start the tour for sure.

The name is Virat Kohli. Not Kholi.

Kohli feels they did alright. :D:lol

I do too. We didn't get blown away. The only issue was the batting, which is unusual because every time overseas the issue is bowling and this time that wasn't the case. He needs to step up his own performance though, no need to talk all the pre-series crap if you can't back it up on the ground and Pujara as well - "we can chase 350 to win". If you struggle to get a 100 in each innings how can you chase 350 lol.
