I would argue with you on this point, especially the bold part. I don't think it's fair to say that. If it's true, shouldn't it also hold true when India go overseas and get presented with juicy/seaming/green/bouncy wickets? I'm not saying that India does not prepare pitches that begin to turn from day 1 or 2 but why does the same yardstick not apply when the pitch is a lively one when India tours overseas? I don't see anyone whining about the state of the pitch at such times?

Faf put the point across very eloquently. Having a home advantage isn't bad, that's what makes the game so special. Issue is sometimes it goes to extremes. India vs South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh vs Australia in recent memory.

"The last time we went to India we didn't play as well, but I do feel the conditions were touching on extreme. For me the way to look at that is even the Indian batting line-up struggled in conditions where their spinners were much better than ours. Every Test match lasted three days [the fourth in Delhi went the distance], and I think there was only one hundred [there were two, both by Ajinkya Rahane in that Delhi Test]. In this series there have been times when it has looked tough, but there have been guys scoring runs and guys taking wickets, so there is always that battle between bat and ball. If you have that, for me it is a good wicket. If it is just dominated by seam or spin bowling then I think the wickets are excessive. If you have all factors in five days or even four days the first morning at Newlands was tough but then it got good, this got tough at the end of the Test. So yes I think it was touching on the extreme side, but if you get that you still have to try and win."

the facts are India in the past have doctored pitches, and it is known!
What the hell do you mean by “doctoring pitches” anyway? Preparing pitches according to their will. Well, every home team does that, that is why they are the home team. You cant ask the away team to decide the pitch, then it wont become the away tour.

*** A CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ***

I was going through the ESPN Cricinfo polls and found the recent one saying, which pitches are worst. Green tops were at the last, while rank turners being at no. 3

Also I saw that there ICC has rated 4 rank turners as poor pitches, since 2006 and no excessivr green tracks.

My question is, if the pitches which support Spin Bowling excessively, are rated poor, and the home teams are blamed for preparing such pitches, then why aren't the pitches that support page bowling excessively dealed the same.

Just look at this : http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/...-test-australia-tour-of-south-africa-2011-12/

The 2nd and 3rd innings are a complete example of what I am saying, still this pitch was not rated poor. In this match, balls showed way too much seam movement, but still it wasn't rated poor.

Even the rules say, that a pitch would be rated poor if a pitch shows excessive seam movement at any point of the match.
Same point.

Indian are so stupid.
When Team wins:We are number one.
When Team Lose:These are home and flat pitch bullies bring xxxxxx back. Hundreds of trolls post on FB and twitter.
No support for team when they need it the most.

Kohli's press conference showed why he does not deserve to be a captain. He has zero respect and I am sick of his this attitude. Captains need to be like Ganguly, Dravid or Dhoni. Silent and aggressive at the same time when needed. We just added oil to fire by electing Ravi Shastri. I am not saying India did not compete, yes they did we came close in both the matches but in the end wins matter and not losses for sure. Even a draw would have been accepted. This pitch was close to a pitch in India there are zero excuses. Everyone failed including Kohli, his captaincy is part of game and that failed. I saw 0 team effort, everyone just trying to prove their own point. This is not how a team works. A pretty excited series goes down the line.

No matter how good these players are I do not see us winning any away games if we play with this save my best friend attitude. Indian selection has to focus on selecting players who are doing well in domestic circuits and not who are friends with Kohli and Anushka.

The one thing that I fail to understand is why are the legends not helping our batsman. What is Gavaskar doing, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly. Why can they not be assisting our batsman or providing advice and share their experiences? How busy can they be that they can't offer to help ? Ravi Shastri isn't doing anything other than collecting money from BCCI. Dravid is busy with the U-19 team which is understandable. There's no point for Gavaskar and everyone to criticize when they can't do their part and try to put us in a position to succeed. To me it doesn't seem like our management cares about winning tests away from home and even on the field only one guy showed intensity and hunger to win and it was Kohli. Dropping catches is unacceptable and I don't know if our training practices are right. If you don't show character then you don't deserve to win, look at Morkel and how he wanted to complete the catch even though that was a very difficult chance, we have people like Shami who can't take simple catches. Pujara's running is atrocious, just cause Kohli says to show more intent and rotate strike doesn't mean you run outside of your ability, run as much as you can but be aware about it. And no Kohli was right to answer in the manner he did, some of those reporters were clearly just being annoying and asking dumb things which they shouldn't be asking right after a loss. The one idiot who said "but that because of the pitches", that was very senseless as we haven't been complaining about any pitches and when SA come to India we decide the how the pitches are made, it's something called home advantage and the Cape Town pitch had more movement, we never complained about it.

Does wins in India matter as much as the ones overseas? This was the same guy who was talking big about how the team is now ready to tackle overseas challenges. Now that the series has gone from his hand and a crushing defeat has been inflicted, he has conveniently made "wins in India" as the hallmark for being the best side.

Where has he made conveniently it as hallmark ? Please point it out to me. He said "Wherever we play we try to do our best." ( I didn't read the link, I just read those questions you posted here) when asked about the wins in India. We didn't tour outside India for few years and we played more games in India and we WON all of them and we became #1. How is this Kohli's fault ? He doesn't schedule these matches. And ofcourse he has to back it up that we are the number one side. So according to you, he should just tell that we lost this series and we don't deserve to be #1 ? Are you serious ?

Yes he said he is ready to tackle overseas challenges, but we failed. We came into the series with #1 ranking and even if we have lost here, we cannot get depressed and just openly come out and tell we don't deserve this ranking. We are number one for a reason. And unlike others, he is not blaming the pitches or conditions and he is accepting the mistake that we didn't perform well. The tone in which the media guy asked questions, Kohli responded appropriately.

In general-

Nowadays in most of the series, home team is winning. The heat we are getting is quite frankly disappointing especially from some of the good posters. We fought well and we lost. Captaincy was bad, I agree. But I for one support my team, India regardless of who plays and how many games we lose. I don't care about trollers because that's what they do. Haters gonna hate. I stand behind my captain regardless of the decisions he has taken and suck it up because I am an Indian cricket team supporter.

It's not his fault. We can't play Cricket on Seamer Friendly Pitches.

ensuring the visitors lost the series before even a ball was bowled.
I don't agree even one bit with this. If you are good enough to win, you will win. Ensuring the visitors lost the series before even a ball was bowled. Seriously? There is no such thing in cricket. You are telling as if we changed the pitch when we are batting and changed it to make it worse when they batted. I can't have this debate all over again. I seriously tried to ignore this comment, but I succumbed and reacted to this.

I respect everyones post and their views and don't mean to offend anyone. But honestly, this is one of the worst comment I have seen here from you seeing how you make quality posts.

Okay, agree. But can SA play on spin friendly tracks? Can Aus? Can Eng? Can NZ? It's the matter of where you grow up playing. FFS Stop the nonsense that India is shit outside the subcontinent, its the reverse for others in the subcontinent, Aus and Eng lost to Ban in these conditions, the can't handle quality spin so stop the talks that say rank turners are poor and green tops are excellent.
