India tour of South Africa

I love it! :D

I said this before the CT and I really hope this shit management sticks with these blokes when these guys have bad days.

Not sure I agree with this.

A good day for two leggies and you get dominating performance likes today, but when it goes bad (which is a greater chance for leg spinners) or you're playing in Australia or NZ - it could be a disaster for India.

What the f is wrong with SaF? Suddenly they become talent less? Fantastic bowling from our bowlers. What a wonderful victory

Smashing victory by India. These spinners are just too good. Hard to believe that this victory has come outside India. I hope SA come back and make this a competitive series. Never expected them to capitulate just like that.

You should that in your signature as well - The two wrist spinners quote.:p

Nah. Happy doing it every time they come good.[DOUBLEPOST=1517763175][/DOUBLEPOST]

The problem is dividing test matches and limited overs. In the last 4-5 years I don't remember India struggling in limited overs overseas.

We did struggle overseas in limited overs cricket as well. We lost 4-1 to Australia in Australia, lost 2-1 in Bangladesh, although we won 3-1 in England before that but lost 4-0 in New Zealand as well. Last ODI series played in South Africa we lost 2-0. So leaving England apart the margin is quite big. Most of the series has been whitewash. This ODI series is a refreshing change and nothing to take away from the wrist spinners and Kohli and Rahane. Injuries are helping us as I saw a tweet from Vikrant Gupta the Aaj Tak guy saying Qunton has broken his finger too. If he is out thats another big blow to SAF.

Sensational performance from the Indian spinners! Two leggies dominating at the same time has never happened with India before. And with their type of spin, they have much better chances of doing good abroad than other types of spinners. India have their spin department well set for the World Cup next year.

Oh really? India have lost many ODI series before the 2015 World Cup and a few series after it. The team improved post 2016 IMO. The only problem I see with the team is still the #4 position. I doubt still that Rahane can be a long term #4, he is perfect to play in that spot overseas, but I feel he is a bit too conservative in the middle overs. He doesn't rotate the strike much and get those quick boundaries now and then.

India have missed a leggie in the CT, but now they have two talented ones too. There is always a risk with any other spin bowlers on flat tracks in England, Australia and NZ. They are wicket-taking bowlers that India have missed in CT and for the last 1-2 years ago. Everybody has good days and bad days, that's just how it is. However, in the long run these are good spin bowlers heading into the World Cup in 18 months.

In the CT, India's prime spinner was Ashwin hence it was only a matter of time before the batsmen negated him. My point being that both current legspinners may not be the wisest idea going into England. But either way, India's bowling woes since 2011 seems to no longer exist.

India might need Jadeja back in the ODI lineup for 2019. I am too confident of Axar Patel being the backup spinner for the big tournament. Even though English conditions might not need too many spinners, still with flat wickets in an ICC tournament, 2 spinners might play a majority of the games. Jadeja with his left arm spin, attacking fielding and lower order pinch hitting would be good.

Also another area of concern that India need to address is their inability to provide middle and lower order batsmen with enough batting time in the middle. We saw this in the Champions Trophy last year that India's openers dominated through the tournament and rarely gave others a chance to bat. But when the time came where the openers and Kohli were exposed, the others weren't up to the task. India somehow should find a way to address this. Maybe Kohli can make his spot a little flexible and also ask Rohit and/or Dhawan to be a little more aggressive. The openers need to start trusting the middle and lower middle order to come up with the runs in case the opener fail. In such a case, Rohit/Dhawan can be more carefree and score faster at the beginning and set us up for much bigger totals (when batting first) or chase better (when fielding first).

Do you really want to change something that is working well for some time now? Rohit takes his time will Dhawan pushes on. Why change the set-up?

I think the best thing to do especially with Amla being the only off quality inform batsmen in the current ODI set-up for SA is to rejiggle the line-up.

Rest Sharma, Give Rahane and opening slot with Dhawan. Pandey at 3, Kohli at 4, Jadhav at 6, Dhoni at 5 etc.

That way everyone gets a decent knock in rather than changing someone's game.

I agree with first statement. No need to change the Rohit-Dhawan setup.
But I don't agree with last sentence on playing Pandey at 3. He is never gonna play at 3 till Kohli is there, so why should he play there in this series ? Agreed he needs to get some games but he is a freaking good player and he should not bat below 4. Seeing how we are struggling for #4 spot, I can't understand why management can't put him at 4? I have seen him a LOT in domestic circuit. He is very good player and he should play at #4.

Women's tour just started today and we are batting first. Surprisingly Mithali Raj has opened the batting.

EDIT- cricbuzz messed it up. Instead of Raut, they had mentioned Raj.
