IMHO, Dhoni should have walked in at 4. I said it before the game began, top 3 aside, we are poor!

Dhoni really isn't the same finisher he was 4-5 yrs ago. Better off pushing him up and getting the likes of Raina and Pandya in that position.

Poor batting in the last 15 overs by India the SA comms have been craving for fantastic death bowling but in contrast it was just plainly nothing but atrocious batting by the middle - lower order.

Also not even surprised by this typical Dhoni innings in the death its been the same since last 4 years.

SA just need to believe they can win. India have a lot of issues post the top 3. If SA can get those 3 out in a hurry India's 'dominance' will not take long to look like a struggle.

Armchair experts like us see it, but this management doesn't. No wonder B Arun feels Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers in the tests.

To be fair to Dhoni he was not given much strike, I heard only 5 deliveries while Pandya and Iyer batted. He has done well for India to reach 289 runs. Pandya apart from that first flashy innings in test has been poor with bat. His bowling has been good though.

Our strength is our top 3, the two death bowlers and or wrist spinners. The funny thing is that all these guys know their roles in the side.

Dhoni to me, is a No. 4 at his current form. With his quick hare running and tendency to steal singles, he can effortlessly keep his strike rate at 80+ and can give Kohli a run for his money when running between wickets. It does not make any sense for Dhoni to bat any lower. We here in PC forums have been crying out loud (I know the management does not hear us) for long that Dhoni should be No. 4 on a permanent basis and the youngsters should lead the lower order explosion. There is so much wrong about India's batting order today. Iyer is not a No. 5. Rahane after that 79 in the first game has consistently failed. I see the commentary on his wicket and it clearly says Rahane feels obliged to keep the run rate high and plays a very high risk/low percentage shot. That's so not Rahane. He is proving that he can not hid anywhere in the batting order apart from opening or No. 3 (which Kohli has sealed for himself).

So so so many things wrong about the way we approach batting and batting order in ODI's. And the solution has not at all been forthcoming. Despite all the failures, Rohit is seen as THE opener in ODI's and Dhoni is still seen as the finisher in ODI's.

Why replace rohit with rahane just because he didnt perform well for few matches? Everyone has bad times in cricket. Not defending rohit,he is very poor oversea expect aus. But it has been only 4 matches why would management bench him?
