India tour of South Africa

The big long sixes to Chahal gave me the feeling how luck was playing with him to be look a good bowler in first three ODIs.
Hasan Ali looked like a fantastic bowler in CT and looked like a legend bowling against SL, but he flopped against NZ. Was that luck in CT and SL that made him look like a good bowler? :p:lol

Andile Phehlukwayo will get an IPL contract after this match.
Hardik Pandya need to build innings,or bring Shivam Mavi.:rolleyes
I don't agree with this statement
Shivam Mavi is good All Rounder but you can't replace Pandya with him. There is difference between U-19 cricket and International Cricket.

Pandya should improve his batting and bowling. He should be consistent. He only plays good in 2-3 matches out of 10 matches. In bowling, he gives too many runs.
Pandya should bat on #5 or #6

After sleeping over it last night, I further realised how Kohli lacks balance as a captain and leader. Once play resumed and got truncated to a 28 over game, wrist spinners were not going to be the main threat. Fine, they're good enough to still pick W but the end goal should have been to get their 11 overs out of the way. The ball was wet and with Bumrah and Bhuvi having bowled 4 each already, there was variety only from Pandya. When Chahal was clattered by AB, that itself was the time to just break things up and get one of the seamers on for just an over alongside Pandya. Perhaps, Kohli himself. I have also noticed a theme or rather a pattern to Kohli's captaincy in the field. I can tell you Chahal will bowl the 11th over, Pandya will bowl the 9th and so on and so forth.

His imagination would be better served with resources on the field and not tinkering with the squad/players.

Chill on mates, Chahal has long way to go in my view... Lets see how he comes up in coming matches. I didnt comment on chahal and kuldeep infact other bowlers because I believed SA was going through a poor batting form run throughout this series. When I criticized Hasan Ali on his bowling against NZ it was on the basis of his little arrogance and less focus compared to what he had in CT and it is natural when you too early think that you are in the top of the world. Instead of putting your guns fast I'd suggest read carefully the posts :)

How was the unfair? India were going at a run a ball at 34th over with Kohli and Dhawan in full flow before the first interruption. With so many interruptions I do not think that there can be a set total. It was not unfair for them to chase.

Did India lose momentum or did the SA bowlers bring it back after the interruption??

Even so, the max they should be chasing, IMHO, should be around 170-180 (at around 6 rpo). India managed to get to 289 (which was a fair score) because the bowlers pulled them back. Therefore, it wasn't fair for the SA's to chase at over 7.2rpo. That's my point.

@Villain - it wasn't me being cocky, it was just an unnecessary score compared to India's!

Edit: At the end of the day, this is more of a rant about my hatred of Duckworth Lewis.

This was bound to happen. One bad day out of six is a reasonable expectation. This may sound cynical, but I did have doubts over India maintaining the momentum over a period of six ODIs. Hence the talk of 6-0 was something that I found highly unrealistic.

It would have been different had we been playing at home or against a weaker team, but SA, inspite of having a few major players out due to injury, is still capable of giving a good fightback.

The two wrist spinners were absolutely brilliant today as well perhaps their biggest challenge in the series will be in the next match at Wanderers which is one of the most flattest deck in the world and the ball does travel a long long way due to high altitude , thin air...
Told ya! + curtailed match due to rain which made the outfield wet and hence difficult for the spinners to grip the ball. But having said that Kuldeep was still exceptional last night picked up two wickets and Klaasen was too good in the end for us with those unorthodox shots.

6-0 was more to do with how poor SA are. I think Klaasen played an absolute gem yesterday and that made the difference. On sheer quality, India are streets ahead. I find Duminy, Miller and co. very very over rated.

It was a good contest nevertheless, we had so many chances but credit goes to the their batsmen although I feel chasing 290 would've been tougher plus conditions after rain favoured the batting side. Good to see them fightback and get back in the contest which made it more interesting now. They're very much capable to win the next one as well but we should be pushing hard for a win in the next one and win the series, we're very much ahead for now. :)

Virat Kohli since the last one year has been really pathetic as a captain. He is undoubtedly one of the best batsman in world cricket currently. But in terms of captaincy, he either gets result on his way by his own performance, home advantage of some extraordinary performance from players. When team is under pressure on the field, he gets stressed out and gets too aggressive but Dhoni controls and manages the situation as usual while Kohli shouts from his field position i.e, boundary. Lol!

He is better player than captain.

Another article that talks about how Raina should come back and shore up India's middle order with his experience and tilt the balance on the positive side
https://circleofcricket.com/5-reasons-why-suresh-raina-should-be-included-in-indias-odi-squad

Hope Raina has a really good outing in the T20 games against South Africa (where he is selected to play) and that he is selected to play in most or all of the games. He could be that 'final puzzle object' that needs to fall in place. His fielding, his useful off spin, his vibrant attitude, all are big positives. All he needs is some well slogged runs in the death overs. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him to come out good (and I don't care if I am called out as a CSK partial for supporting Raina; have always supported him irrespective of his CSK lineage).

Completely agree here. Raina not only has great batting, useful bowling and fielding. But it is the tons of experience he has, which makes him so valuable.

It almost feels like the guy stole my article.

As for being called out on the CSK lineage- Well, the person he should replace is going to be playing for CSK too. Kedar Jadhav!

Anyone who thinks Raina's recall is CSK partiality did NOT see him bat in the WC QF and SF. For me, the biggest positive about Raina is his attitude. He just doesn't know the words give up.
