India's Tour Of Sri Lanka- August 2015

Brilliant Shikhar Dhawan ... consecutive test 100s ... India looking good.

Now wait for people to say how flat the pitch was and how useless the SL attack is. For all the negative results that we had overseas, this side could`ve won 4 or 5 tests in those series with a little bit of luck. Except for those 3 tests in England, the side fought brilliantly dominating the first test in SA, being in front in the second for a good while. NZ should`be been a 1-1 series at worst if not for the McCullum drop. We were 1-1 after 3 tests in England and should`ve been 2-1. Remember, England were 200+ behind and 9 down at Nottingham when we allowed that ridiculous 10th wicket stand. Albeit due to a generous declaration by Clarke, we were within touching distance at Adelaide and at Brisbane we again let slip a game we were bossing.

If anything, had we caught better and bowled better to the tail, our overseas pickings would be a lot better. This test side has potential.

Unfortunately, people do not remember the 'just misses' and 'bad lucks,' Aditya. When things go really well, they point out some really awful reasons on why things went well (flat tracks, in this case). If everything is against us and still we manage to put up a really nice fight, then they say 'You lost,' and then say India has really awful players and is a useless team, by deliberately not concentrating on the quality of cricket. I made a similar post on how the recent results are a little deceptive and India were not as poor as the results suggested. Barring England, India were okay on most of the tours.

Also the flat track argument is bullsh!t. Did other batsmen not bat on the same flat pitch, so why did they not score 100s too if its so fking damn easy to score 100s on flat pitch. Also what flat track there is plenty of turn on offer for the spinners. Kohli and Dhawan both batted brilliantly.

Virat goes after a fine knock and brilliant partnership. India are 72 ahead, and even though the last recognised pair of batsmen are in, India should they get a lead of 150, they would have put the game to bed, only 80 more runs to go.

Okay Rahane goes too, and suddenly the match has turned. Those 80 runs will be very valuable now.

This is the problem with just 5 batsmen ... especially when one of them is Rohit. Two of the other 4 have to get 100s, for the team to get a decent total. Saha scoring a 30 here has been very valuable, that is what his role is. Just to contribute those 30 runs down the order. However I am still not impressed with him, not his keeping and this is the first he ha scored any runs. He can't keep dropping dollies like he did in the first innings.

India are 121 ahead, another 30 runs, should be enough of a lead for the win.

Wow SL it appears can't play spin at all right now. 4 overs 2 wickets down, innings defeat looking likely.

Solid position here for us, although I wouldn't personally jump the gun and declare us victors - we are known to pull draws and defeats out of the jaws of victory before, esp on overseas tours. Especially with rain looming around. Yes, yes, life around me is gloomy ;)

Good to see 3 out of the 6 batsmen getting runs. Rahane will come good as well, and so will Rahul. And even better to see Ashwin and Mishra's performance.

Thank god someone mentioned the outfield. To be honest, although I feel this will be a competitive series, the 'appeal' to watch this trip is really poor. Poor broadcast team, very poor coverage, empty stadiums, poor looking grounds and watching Ravi Shastri in a fancy pair of sunglasses puff his chest out every time he's on camera. :facepalm

It's a bit early to comment, but Rahane hasn't looked very self assured against spin lately. He plonks his pad in line with the stumps and keeps the bat tucked in nicely behind. May be it's just me but India are trying out No.3's and for me, Rahane is that man. I might be wrong, but this is my feeling. There's a huge plus of him @ 5 as he bats well with the tail and he's often played the second ball well, but something tells me India will benefit more with him @ 3. I feel Rohit can and should certainly bat in the top half in any LOI, but sadly, as much as I'll like to see him succeed, 5 is the highest he can bat in tests.

Wicket first ball. I was fearing the nightwatchman to be an irritant today as they`ve often been against India. This is what we need Aaron and Yadav to do for us. Get some wickets rattling guys with the pace. Aaron is a bit too wayward at the moment but with a consistent run in tests he will get better. Ishit Sharma has had 60 goes at it and still cannot assure you consistent performances and the others are expected to do so in less than a dozen tests.

Looks like we are making a close game out of a one sided one. If SL can get ahead by 150, I would rate them favorites here. We need someone to breakthrough quickly now. It has to be one of the two pacemen. I don`t think we have the batting to be chasing 200-odd on this track.

How many more before Indian fans start feeling the heat?

Can't believe the commentators were talking about who should open for India 75 runs back. Bunch of knobs.
