India's Tour Of Sri Lanka- August 2015

Life would be easy if we could clean up the tail quick now, but life is a -----. :rolleyes

Ask Aaron to bowl at the body and full against Kaushal and Co. Chandimal is now going to throw his bat at everything in an attempt to get a big lead. Get Aaron in and bowl full/short and straight.

Any idea why Dhawan is not on the field. Is it something to do with the blow on the head yesterday.

He batted the entire first innings injured. He has a swollen hand.[DOUBLEPOST=1439550279][/DOUBLEPOST]India are not doing much wrong. Chandimal has just batted brilliantly! Ashwin reverting to T20 tactics after a couple of attacking shots.

We`re screwed. I can see Kaushal doing a Mendis in the second innings and us losing big here. How often do we allow test matches drift away this way after being on top. Its worrying and tells us this side has forgotten how to win. The 5 bowler theory is going to haunt us with Rohit among the 'frontline' batsmen. Now that the target is sizeable, Nohit will fail again.

Harby Singh is past it and I don`t understand how selectors fail to realize that. He keeps getting chances on the basis of IPL performances.

I never thought SL was out of it. I agree with you that we need to nail tests. Somehow, our boys struggle to finish things off. Also agree with the IPL selection bit. Let's wait and watch Rohit in the 2nd innings.

Can anyone please tell me what's the noise in the background? Seems like a rally is taking place at the stadium. Or has our parliament shifted to SL? SO ANNOYING.

You can just keep listing the number of times this has happened.

This test, from 95/5 they go on to score close to 400.
Australia 2014: from 240/6 (trailing by 200 odd), Australia get to 500+
England 2014: England 200/9 (trailing by 260) and get a lead of 50, In the same series, England got from 160/6 to 400-odd
NZ 2014: 95/5 (trailing by 200 in the second innings) and NZ get to safety
SA 2014: 150/4 chasing 450 on a last day Jo`burg track and we allowed the game to slip
Australia 2011: Australia from scores like 27/4,20/3 etc got to a safe position time and again
England 2011: 100/8 and England got to 220 odd and won the Nottingham test

This is just some from the top of my mind that I listed. I remember how we allowed a great chance to win the test series in SA after having SA 6 down in the second innings with very little lead and how we allowed Ajanta Mendis to score 80-odd. Its not just crap bowling because we tend to get sides grounded very often (not possible if its entirely substandard bowling) but lost the plot when it comes to the lower order. I don`t remember bowling sides getting the opposition for 4 or 5 down for very little so often and we manage to do that with whatever bowling we have.

Chandimal played a good counter attacking innings. This is Int'l cricket, not everything will always go your way, the opposition are also allowed to play well.

The key thing is that India due to their dominance over the past 2 and a half days have a very manageable chase of 176. The pitch has no demons in it, the pitch is still good for batting as Chandimal showed, some application will see India through.

I agree that the opposition are in it as well. What is worrying is how frequently we allow things to slip.

There is one big point though- PRESSURE.

12-1. Couple of wickets here, and the cat will be amongst the pigeons.[DOUBLEPOST=1439553331][/DOUBLEPOST]

Ok great. Now there are firecrackers during game play.

The funny thing is Ishant gives me more confidence at the crease with the ball than Rohit. Tells you all you need to know. India will have an interesting choice should Vijay become available for the second test.

Dhawan clearly is not getting dropped, and it would be unfair to drop Rahul after this one test.

Rohit on the other hand has done nothing to deserve his place, or justify it. A case could be made for Rahul at 3. Then there is also Pujara waiting in the wings. Not sure Rohit deserves his place ahead of all of them. Rahul granted is no where near the finished article, but if he is invested in even half as much as the selectors have invested in Rohit, I think the fruits are likely to be better.

The session has been a good one for India, okay they lost a wicket, but they were also able to knock off 23 runs, so that leaves 152 to get tomorrow with 9 wickets in hand. Should be doable surely.

2 pretty shocking umpiring decisions nobody on here has mentioned? and they were for chandimal and thirimanne...

Jonty Rhodes is fun to hear. I like the new group of commentators coming through, Dravid Ganguly Jonty VVS Ponting. I am sure I am missing out on a few names, but in general the new generation coming into commentary are good.
