India's Tour Of Sri Lanka Jul-Aug 2012

Would have been a more satisfying victory if not for that poor last over from Yadav. Not too great bowling from us, but still our batting firepower gave us enough ammunition to win the game. From here, I think it will be an uphill task for Sri Lanka to avoid a whitewash. Once Gambhir also comes to the party, it will be tough for Sri Lanka to rein in our batting. And looks like we have found a new strangehold over Malinga who is their only weapon if they have to compete with us consistently.

Close game, Kholi made the difference, the Indian batting was disgusting, get Kholi early the next 4 games and India will suffer huge losses for sure.

Does anyone here think Rohit Sharma has been given enough opportunities and that he needs to be dumped once and FOREVER? The guy has been a major major FLOP and unlike Raina who conjures up decent innings in good batting conditions, this guy can't even do that. How long will Manoj Tiwary sit on the bench and await his next chance and that too after scoring a century in his last ODI innings?

I'm sure Malinga will be next episode of Bhajji. Some strong hitting, he can be a good #8 for Sri Lanka.

And what the heck was that crowd. Head ache, I wasn't able to watch the match for 2 full overs. The dumbest crowd I have ever seen- simply blowing those paper bugles:(:facepalm.

get this rohit sharma off he is FLOP. He only makes runs against west indies itself he got enough opportunities and not converting on it. :mad surely we need to give chance to manoj tiwary there

Rohit Sharma is not an aggressor. I feel he gets in uncomfortable position when he bats low down the order as he is a kind of sheet anchor of a player. He will be best at #3 where he can take his time to settle down which, apart from this game where he batted at #4, is not allowed to do by the situation. I'm sure he will click if moved up the order and yes, he needs to sort out his square cut issue which he more often than not plays in the air only to be caught by the point fielder.

A huge blow to the Lankans. Kaulasekara is out of the series!

Groin injury puts Kulasekara out of series

Really good stuff by Irfan and Ashwin on a flat wicket,
the only two bowlers who did well on the day, all other bowlers were just hammered.

ya i am really happy on irfan's effort yesterday he was brilliant yesterday with his bowling the last 2 overs which he bowled at death was superb. also scored runs to but not got to many overs to bat. but still i hope he will do better in this series and cement his place in india :D

Its about time he his dropped. Way too inconsistent.

Rohit Sharma could not even manage to score against WI A ,bar that 95 he made. Total flop and I am sure he will add to that ever growing list of strong domestics who could not make a mark at the top level.

What is more surprising is that he has played close to a 100 ODIs ? Am I right here ? Still, he has been consistently inconsistent. Needs to go and Manoj needs a shot at his place. Thoug again, I doubt how he would do right now. Rememebr, if Tiwary is given a chance, we need to persist with him for a longer period of time- the guy's last ODI, he scored a century-this came against the WI almost half a year ago.

Irfan was swinging the ball nicely, got two wicket too, but I didn't see him bowling above 130K's

Let us not focus too much on the pace. If he has gotten his swing back, there is no need to worry much about his pace.

I just picked this up from MSds post match interview.- Irfan gives our team the right balance in the abscence of a Jadeja or Yuvraj.

What ??? Is the guys totally off his rocker- Since when did Sir Ravinder bring balance to the Indian team. At this going rate, one can easily expect MSD to compare Sir Ravinder with the likes of Ravi Shashtri as well. The day is not far folks when SRJ will be appointed deputy to MSD in all 3 formats.:mad

One can understand if the Jadeja in question was Ajay, but definitely not far Ravinder.

He is talking about the balance in terms of the bowling options that he has at his disposal. Jadeja is an allrounder (its another fact that he is a nonperforming allrounder) and with Jadeja or Yuvraj in the team, you have 5 bowlers in a match and that lends good balance to the team. Yes MSD favors Jadeja a lot, but you cant deny that Jadeja lends balance to the team. Lending balance and not performing are two different things. Jadeja has the capability to perform some day or the other. Its that these 'some days' dont come often.

Balance ,in essence needs to balance out any deformities. Should the 'balance' be unable to arrest the slide on either side, its not worth investing in it,right ?
