International Cricket 2010 Impressions Thread

I have to say the game is pretty good.

A couple fo things that are very strange are somethimes the ball will be pitch right up to the batsman and it bounces almost straight up and then he hits it over backward point for 4 or 6...

I'm no physics expert but after 30 years of playing and watching cricket I've never seen a ball do that or a batsman have such magnificent anticipation...

Hope a patch comes out to fix that.... :yes

This same bug has been present for the previous two versions.

Even the bouncer too is ineffective as the ball barely bounces over the hip....:noway:doh

Well I'm at lunch on day two of my test against the Windies. I finally rolled the windies for 359 in the 81st over on day one with Chris Gale hitting 209*. Played the last 7 overs of the day out to be none for 30. I'm now 1/168 with Katich 78* and Ponting 34*. Phil Hughes was the only wicket when he left a ball that swung back and hit the top of off stump. One little thing I did like though (but very frustrating!!) was the way Gayle protected his tailenders by keeping the strike and only looking a single in the last three balls of an over. Well done Trickstar there!!

Using action cam is certainly a completely different experince. Facing Fidel Edwards is certainly testing the reflexes out but you can certainly time the ball well when they drop a tad short. Fielding, like many others have said, by the AI is terrible. Katich was dropped by the second slip (who mind you ran in front of the first slipper to try and take the catch) and Ponting was dropped off a simple caught and bowled.

This game certainly has a lot of potential and I hope trickstar can keep working on this title for many years to come. Just please, tighten up the AI catching and like everyone else has stated cut out the yorkers being hit for 6 sqaure of the wicket!!

Some test match impressions...
It seems to me to be easier to slog than to block which is all wrong. I was able to score at 10 rpo with numerous 6s using the slog button on hard but found it almost impossible to score runs with defend and attack. Plus kept getting bowled/lbw/caught.
Scorecard shows KP 53 off 27 balls and Morgan 26 off 9 balls.

Little umpire bonus btw.

At least you are losing wickets and risk being bowled out in a session for a very low score (Test wise)

When you play a defensive shot are you just defending straight back to the bowler? or are you angling a little to the right or left depending on each delivery?

Also if you managed to defend a delivery, you can usually pinch a run if its inbetween fielders.

I got bowled a few times trying to play straight ones into the leg/off side as the batter lunged across. Found it easier once I started reducing the shot power meter.

Yea that bowled happens a lot, just going to have to get better at reading the line.

Basically if its anywhere near the offstump or outside it, its very risky trying to play into the leg side due to the exaggerated movement the seaming deliveries get.

Try to knock majority in to the offside with little power, only go to the leg side if the line is on or outside legstump.

Also, I found out that if you press the defend button very very early, the batman will miss the ball and it will hit him on the pads. I use this technique to pad up to balls that will hit me outside the line of offstump

Huh? 5/89 is not a good score.

I'm finding batting realistic and not impossible. Just take your time building confidence, and learn how to time it correctly.

It's not the overall score; it's the two batters hitting 6s for fun. Slogging has too high a reward compared to the risk.
