Rafa Confident of Better Season​

Liverpool Manager said yesterday in the press interview that he is confident that his team will perform much better than last season and win at least one trophy . Liverpool last season finished 4th in the league , were knocked out of the Champions League by rivals Chelsea in the semi finals and were also knocked out by championship side Barnsley in the 4th round of the FA CUP . The owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks have given Liverpool manager one last chance to prove himself . The owners have given Rafa Benitez a huge amount of money ie 56m to spend on buying players . Rafa benitez also stated that he will be using money to strengthen his defence . He also hinted at many players leaving Liverpool this and being replace by some quality players . He concluded by saying that he was proud of his team and especially the duo captain Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres who have been in some great form last .

Will Liverpool perform in this season ? We can hope that they do win their ever Premier League Title in many years .

Rafa Benitez has made some transfers during the pre season . Liverpool's left winger Harry Kewell has been sold to Inter Milan for ?2.8m . Harry Kewell who just played handful of matches last season due to injury was sold by the manager as he was injury prone . Jermain Pennant the right winger who played lot of matches during the end of the last season was sold to Chelsea for a transfer fee of ?7.8m . Many Liverpool fans said that he was not a Liverpool and were happy when he was sold .

But the main thing was that Rafa Benitez made 2 new signing during the pre season . He bought the Swiss right back Phillip Degen from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee . Phillip Degen is reglar starter in Swiss lineups and would hope he starts for Liverpool . While Rafa Benitez's major signing was Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry . Gareth Barry was rumoured to move to Liverpool since 2 months and finally he moved for a fee of ?8m . Gareth Barry would be playing alongside Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres . He would have a major role to play on the left side of the pitch . Barry stated his happiness on hist transfer to Liverpool and said it was dream come true .

Fixtures

Liverpool have fixed three friendlies against Palermo , Lyon and Cardiff City during the pre season . Liverpool have some tricky matches during the season as they play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on match day 2 of the premier league . They soon face Man Utd at home on 1st Sept.and then play Arsenal at home on 27th OCt. They have the Merseyside Derby on 26th Dec and they play Chelsea home on 1st jan .On 29th Jan they play Man Utd away and then on 15th March they travel to Arsenal . And they play the merseyside derby on the last day of league also .

Fernando Torres and Peter Crouch scored for Liverpool as they won comfortabley in Palermo .

It was another easy win for Liverpool as Fernando Torres scored a header from Steven Gerrard's corner

Liverpool 4-0 Cardiff City
One sided game that saw Liverpool scoring 4 second half goals . Fernando Torres started the scoring and then Dirk Kuyt scored his hatrick .

@m_vaughan and WORLD CHAMPIONS: I thought they beat them at Anfield last year but they only drew but I think 2 semi-finals in the champions league do result in Liverpool beating Chelsea.

Liverpool Unveil New Home Jersey​

Club partners Adidas have once again excelled themselves in combining style with tradition to produce a kit every fan will want to wear with pride.The designs are already a big hit at Melwood, where the attention to detail and new V-neck are proving popular.

Club captain Steven Gerrard commented: "I'm really pleased with the adjustments they've made. The neck is a lot better and there's some lovely bits of detail."

Midfield partner Xabi Alonso is also happy, adding: "I am really pleased. Wherever you go in the world you see people wearing Liverpool shirts, whether it's Asia, Africa, Europe or Australia. This is one of the reasons why it is an honour for me to wear the Liverpool jersey."

Today Liverpool showed some class and skill in football on the opening of the new season of the Premier League in front of their home crowd by winning 1-0 . The home side playing a aggressive style and managed 7 shots on target out of 10 . They dominated the game in all manner in their passes as well as possession . Blackburn on the other hand were finding difficult to get their passes right .

The first half saw no goals and the game was equally balanced . Best chance of the first half was to Fernando Torres as his shot hit the post . For Blackburn Rovers Roque Santa Cruz had a good chance but he just hit it over the bar from 20 yards .

Peter Crouch was bought on in the second half by manager Benitez and it completed change the style of play . Fernando Torres was again unluck as hist shot this time was brilliantly saved by Nlackburn keeper Friedel who was outstanding in front of goal . He saved some more shots from Gerrard and Torres to deny Liverpool a goal . But finally he was beaten by a great shot from Steven Gerrard from 17 yards out and it went in the top right corner . Liverpool scored the first goal in the 86th minuted which ensured their victory .
