Mar 17 : England vs West Indies

No. The team selection is awful and has been since we announced the squad and I'm fed up with Bell (amongst others), it's time to give someone else a chance in the middle order.

I'll just forget the five consecutive series victories we had before Australia then. I find it very hard to be as harsh as some when we're debilitated with injuries, played way too much cricket and are now having to play people like Wright because Collingwood's form has fallen through the floor.

So to me the "they're a disgrace" is an overreaction.

Just one good p'ship and England will feel more comfortable their runrate is quite good just need to play 50 overs so they can reach 250 because a pp is still to come

I think a collapse on the card now!!

The West Indies bowling has been so powerful this world cup!!

Really India VS West Indies match will prove that!!

They're having to play Luke Wright because Luke Wright was picked in the squad. Why would he be in the squad if he can't play?

You missed the defeats to Ireland and Bangladesh? How where they anything other than disgraceful? Failing to convincingly beat Netherlands was frustrating, along with that, the performances in general haven't been inspiring.

What have our previous performances got do with it? This is what counts in ODI terms not the previous series wins we had, which we did pretty well against Pak and Aus in the summer.

Of course we can still win this, we could get 250 if we play well, which is competitive, if not a good total. But the point is that we should never be in this position in the first place, we've been beyond complacent.

Shite happens.

Still don't think they've been disgraceful. Poor, yes but to call them disgraceful is to fail to take into account the cirumstances which I previously noted.

Australia have played just as much cricket (barring the 2 or 3 state games) as us since the start of the Ashes and also had some pretty big injuries. They've still been clinical in the group stages, if not 100% throughout.

Broad is a massive loss, I'll agree on that, he is our best seamer and a consistent wicket taker, KP hasn't done a lot in ODI's, but will always be a threat if he's playing. But that doesn't affect the players who are actually fit and who have been picked to do a job and who are in the most part good enough and should be good enough against Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands, even if they aren't against WI, SA and India.

It's complacent.

Wright's playing well, be interesting to read what Owzat says on that. :p

I've heard he can carry bags like the best of them.

The difference between Australia and England is where we were playing them. The England side have been at home for three days since late October.

here's something out of left field for everyone,i really could not give a toss about whether england win or lose today,my priority is that england continue improving in the test cricket arena, the proper place to define whether a team is any good or not, unlike t20 or odi cricket where, luck comes into play more often than not.

btw wright and tredwell are just not very good players FULL STOP and to any indian fans who want to take the mickey out of andersons form, remember this your much vaunted batting line up will have to face him soon enough on pitches that aren't as flat as these roads everyone seems so obsessed with on the S/C...

Are we sure that Benny Hill hasn't been hired as England running coach?

I agree that it is stupid, but it's not a good enough excuse for consistently poor performances, one or two, fine, it happens. Since the Ashes finished the eye has been off the ball.

A shame Wright has gone, we had a chance of 260-270 with him around. Still hope we can get to 250.

Agree completely. It really is ridiculous the amount of cricket England plays, far too much. At least Australia were at home. But there is absolutely no way that ODI series before the World cup should have been 7 matches. 5 at the most even three. The players must be absolutely burnt out. The ICC still can't seem to get the balance right, they either have too many games in a short time or a ridiculous schedule where some teams have like a week rest.
