Story Mental Blank - What was meant to go here?

Another great victory. Promotion is still a chance so hopefully the boys can keep up this good form.

Very nice work mate as well :)

Australian Champs Rolled By Mental Blank!

14/12/07

This week in the One Day format of the game Mental Blank were to take on the manager-less Australian Champs. Their manager had gone missing Harold Holt style and last week went for a swim and as the story goes, he never came back. (They are a bot) Well we were playing at Australian Champs CG. The pitch was slow, really good for bowling and I told the boys to Take It Easy (TIE). We won the toss and elected to field.

Australian Champs fell to an appalling position of 5/19, though Bexfield combined with batsmen around him as he put on 56 runs, the next highest scorer was Westrop with 15 - their number 10 batsmen. Dixon ripped through Australian lineup team taking 6/17 off 5 overs. Fenoughty was the next best bowler taking 2/34 of 7.5 overs, a solid performance. In the 29th over Australian Champs were bowled out for 109.

Stoltz was the only wicket to fall in the Mental Blank innings. He went for 29. Henry (48*) and Caledera (24*) saw it through to the end, chasing down the 110 runs required for victory in the 25th over. So Mental Blank won by 9 wickets.

Dixon was later given the Man of The Match Award.

"That was really an authorative performance by us today. We didn't let up on them. Dixon really suffered their batting line-up. To win by 9 wickets is a great effort and it shows we are really on top of our game."

My post-game talk to the media.

The current OD Table. Still coming first :)

Training Update

On Monday we had the training updates occur. This week wasn't a great week but it certainly wasn't the worst one we have had this season.

Roland Hadland - 19 yo, BT Rating=30,031
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
An attacking player with strong leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: woeful
Bowling: remarkable Consistency: respectable
Fielding: competent

My reaction: It is always nice to get a fielding pop. It just gives you the confidence that if a catch comes Hadland's way you know that he will swallow it. Now Hadland has respectable consistency. This is good because he will be able to land the ball in the right areas more often now. A decent week for us :)

Biggest Ever FC Win Provides Entertainment For Mental Blank Fans

18/12/07

This week Mental Blank were to take on managerless (A bot team) gogocar at The Music Room. The pitch was flat and the bowlers were going to suffer heaps. We won the toss and elected to bat first.

Richardson and Mcleod were the two opening batsmen. Mcleod opened the batting because I let him open the batting against a bot side and I thought it would interesting to see how many runs he could make, unfortunately he could only make 11 as he departed after facing 59 balls. Richardson however, stayed in for a long time. He brought up the club record, a giant 339 runs and it took him 311 balls to get. An astonshing effort. Basson, the number three played a great knock of 151 but was always going to be out-shoned by Richardson. Lampard showed no mercy, practically killing the gogocar bowlers. He scored a brutal 337*. Sayce at the other end put a classy 117 to his name to get some form back into him. Lampard un-selfishly declared two runs short of breaking Richardson's 339* as Mental Blank declared on a mammoth 3/1006.

gogocar fell to a shocking position of 6/69. The only real fight they showed was against worthless bowler, worthless consistency Richardson, who is the side's opening batsmen. He had 51 runs taken off his 9 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Dixon, 3/15 off 12.3 overs. The next best was Mcleod was didn't get the most wickets but was very economical, 2/10 off 10 overs. gogocar were out for an appalling 151. Captain Lampard had no hesitation in sending gogocar back into bat.

The second time round wasn't any better for gogocar. They fell to 6/35 and really showed no fight what so ever. Gratton was the only one who looked like he showed any resistance scoring 31 off 106 balls. All of the bowlers were outstanding the best two were, Bradshaw, 4/13 off 10 and Mckinlay, 4/8 off 7.4 overs. In the end Mental Blank won by an innings and 783 runs, a crushing defeat.

"That was a pretty easy victory for us. We played some great cricket and didn't let up on gogogcar. Congrats to Richardson and Lampard, their innings were sensational."

My reaction to our win.

You steamrollered them mate. That was some amazing batting backed up by the bowlers.

Can you still get promoted or is the dream over?

In First Class no but if I win in OD next week I should. Playing my rival and I will PAN and if I win I deserve to promote, if I lose I will stay in Div 5.

Dunn Gets MOTM As Mental Blank Win By 249 Runs

21/12/07

We were playing another bot at home in One Day cricket today. Aussie UnSeeN Team was the oppenent. Our flat pitch was prepared, I told the boys to Take It Easy (TIE) and we won the toss and elected to bat first.

Stoltz and Dunn were the opening pair. Richardson and Basson were being rested from this game. Stoltz didn't really make the most of his chance getting run-out for 32. Lampard and Dunn combined nicely for a big partnership of 120 when Lampard holed out in the deep for 60. Dunn departed when the score was on 248. He was dismissed for 132, the innings containing 11 fours and a six. Dodds and Caledera came together and they both kept the runs ticking along nicely until Calerdera was caught for 33. Henry and Dodds took it to the end of the 50 overs with Henry (26*) and Dodds (70*). The score ended on 4/361.

Aussie UnSeeN Team fell to 6/90 with some great bowling by the Mental Blank bowlers on a pitch that was offering them nothing. Tsimba was the highest scorer with 41. The standout bowler was Dixon, 4/13 off 6.3 overs. All of the other bowlers supported him, Mcleod was the only bowler to finish wicket-less. Dunn took 5 catches behind the stumps. In the 27th over Aussie UnSeeN Team were bowled out for 112. Giving Mental Blank a 249 run victory.

"A really pleasing win. Dunnsy (Nelson Dunn) was great with bat and the gloves. Dixon cleaned them up. A great win I am looking foward to playing Carlton Hounds next week"

Training Update... Finally!

Training Update

Monday, we had training. It wasn't the best of training days but it could of gone worse. Santa provided us with an early Christmas present :p

Steven Pearse - 19 yo, BT Rating=15,396
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, energetic
A cautious player with superb leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: proficient Concentration: feeble
Bowling: strong Consistency: competent
Fielding: worthless

My reaction: It isn't the greatest pop but we needed it. I was hoping for this one for a long time now. Increases his batting nicely.

FC Competiton Ends Badly

25/12/07

This was the last game of the First Class season. If we won this game we would more than likely come second, which would be a great achievement for the club. We were playing Tony's Hero's at their home ground of The Palace. A cracked pitch was prepared and we were raring to go. Tony's Hero's won the toss and elected to bat first, suprisngly.

It was all going all quite nicely when they fell to 7/245 when their lower order batsmen decided to have a good innings. No. 10, Buchan made 53 and No.8 Barnard scored 78. Pearse was the only bowler to take a real haul, 4/28 off 19.1 overs. Everyone took 2 wickets besides Bradshaw and Shackell. Tony's Hero's were bowled out for 404.

Few batsmen made starts, with Lampard top scoring with 47. All of those could of gone on to make a hundred but they all fell short. Basson, Dodds, Pearse and Bradshaw all got starts but failed to capatilse. Mental Blank were all out for a feeble 209.

Tony's Hero's went back into back and didn't really let the foot off the pedal. They scored constantly at around 3 and-a-half and over. Bradshaw was the best bowler, 2/68 off 18 overs. Tony's Hero's finally declared on 4/186 with a lead of 381. A challenging task for victory.

Once again Lampard was the only batsmen to make a serious contribution. He made 75 off 107 deliveries faced. The next highest scorer was Richardson with 27. Mental Blank were steam-rolled for 158 in 51 overs. Tony's Hero's won by 223 runs.

Here is how my team fared this season in batting and bowling.
