Loss On The Last Day Means Mental Blank Drop Down To Second

28/12/07

It was the big day - the last day of the season and I was playing my long time rivals, Carlton Hounds at my ground. I told the boys to leave nothing in the tank and I suspected that they would do the same. Carlton Hounds won the toss and elected to bat first.

Dixon was the only bowler getting any joy taking a wicket in the first over. Lewins and Matten then combined for a 262 run partnership. Both batsmen getting hundreds, Lewins (125*) and Matten (135) batted their team into a good position. Hadland bowled well without much luck ending with figures of 0/37 off 10 overs. Carlton Hounds completed their innings on 2/271.

Unfortunately Mental Blank were never in the game. Dodds was the only serious contribution with 66, the next highest scorer was Pearse with 16. Their most destructive bowler was Hildred taking 3/28 off 10 overs. Mental Blank were rolled for 116 in the 31st over, this meant that Carlton Hounds won the game by 155 runs.

"That was absoultely rubbish! I expect better from my boys. The bowling was good with the exception of Faulkner but the batting was woeful. Dodds was the only decent one out their. Credit to the Hounds they played a great brand of cricket".

My dissapointing post game speech.

Let's take a look at the League Averages and the Final Table of V.203:

So a pleasing season in all formats of the game though not getting promoted in OD was dissapointing.

Second and third not too bad but I'm sure you feel bad about the OD, but it was a good season it wasn't what you probably would have hoped for but three cheers to Mental Blank!

Training Update

Monday was training and two little, but nice pops occured. Here they are:

Robert Dodds - 19 yo, BT Rating=7,139
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, superb batting form, proficient bowling form, energetic
A destructive player with competent leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: competent
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: mediocre

My reaction: A nice pop here for Dodds. I was hoping he would get a stamina pop before the end of the season and he has :happy

Roland Hadland - 19 yo, BT Rating=32,195
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
An attacking player with strong leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: feeble
Bowling: remarkable Consistency: respectable
Fielding: competent

My reaction: This pop doesn't really matter but it might increase his batting ability slightly.

Did you play Hadland when we played last time? He is growing to be a monster. :p

I am pretty sure I did.

You should include our little challenge mate. I expect you'll steam-roller my young guns

Well we can't play now which is bad but if we do have a game together I would rest most if not all of my stars, which is my whole squad :D

Training Update should be soon :happy

My reaction: Wow! Wasn't expecting this. A nice pop. Dodds just keeps on getting better. Takes pressure off the other batsmen. Very happy about this one.
