New Zealand in England May - June 2013

No !!!!!!!! Morgan IMO,Bairstow has been crap ever since t20 world cup 2012 :) .

Misses IPL! Poor Kev...
Morgan or Bairstow? Or neither?

Bairstow without much fuss really. Bell likely will move up to # 4, with Bairstow/Root following.

But its always noticeable how ENG batting top 6, lacks flair every time KP is not present.

What's happened to New Zealand? We England fans used to have such a soft spot for them, because their pitches were like our early April and May monsters, doing all sorts. It used to be fun to watch Sidebottom look unplayable for two weeks and to see the batsmen have to work hard for their runs. Yet now, we get this? These pitches have just been terrible for exciting cricket. We need the old days back.

Would have liked England to have batted first having won that toss, but oh well. If NZ can make a good fist of this first session they could put themselves in a great position to make sure they don't lose this series.

@MU

Everyone produces dead pitches against England now. Best way to beat this England team is to make the pitch batsman friendly and hope the English top order tries too hard to force the pace and gifts their wickets away.

Well we're more than making up for it at home recently. Also wasn't the last Ashes in Aus very bowler-friendly?

Thought we actually produced a lot of dead pitches against South Africa, and were then outbatted.

There was certainly something in it for everyone in Australia, but let's not forget we were consistently putting on 500 runs for the first few wickets over there. Also, the Aussies actually thought they might win :p

Short boundaries really don't help. Apparently the pitch has been rotated 90 degrees and now it's incredibly short straight boundaries.

It's one of those grounds where you see it on TV and you think, 'That looks small' but you think really, it's probably actually quite big and the cameras just make it look small. But then, they put up how big the boundaries actually are and you realise that yes, that bit of grass barely cut in the middle of a cold, wet summers afternoon known as English League cricket, is in fact, a lot bigger in terms of size than what the best players in the country are trying to play on. :D
