Im looking foward to this Test Series, cant wait to see Michael Papps back under the black cap and hopefully Ross Taylor and Mark Gillespie earning debuts after good showings in the one day game.

I like the look of Ross Taylor, think he'll do well in tests.

It's shocking that NZ haven't played a test since December.

Yep. And it was a 2 test series too. Just like this.

These 2 test series are absolutely pathetic. The ICC need to sort them out.

UPDATE:

Peter Fulton has been replaced in the Test team to South Africa by Lou Vincent.

Fulton has an injured right knee, for which he will be undergoing surgery. It is hoped he may be available for the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Australia in December.

Bad new for Fulton, but i'm glad for Vincent. One of my favorite players.

Wow, I can't beleive that! They haven't played a Test since then - and that was a 2 Tess series as well? Pathetic! Thats some of the worst scheduling I have ever seen.

Should be a good series! Though only two test is a bit strange. Should have at least three.

Kyle Mills is ruled out with injury so Iian O'Brian is added to the side.

He's a bit like Mason except a bit faster from memory. Accurate and will get a bit of movement.

I was just thinking that, i remember watching them play agaisnt Sri Lanka in that test series, Sangakarra was going good!

But yeah its about time they have Test match cricket again.
Yeah a two test series is stupid, how cares baout 3 ODIS? New Zealand have been playing cricket with the white ball for nearly a year, im sure they would rather 5 tests and no ODI's :p

Well, pretty disappointing batting display from the top order, whichstill seems to be our weakness. The lower order saved us again, especially Vettori and Bond. However, the batsmen who need the time in the middle are the openers, Taylor and Styris the most. I hope they go a bit better in the remaining tour innings.

If we can make a good start, then our bottom order can really put a good score on the board, just need that platform. Instead of them saving us all the time. It's still a good score, especially for one days batting.

ow lets see how the bowling goes.

Unlucky to Vettori, he must be so angry at himself. Got out on 99. Oh dear.

Due to current One Day form from South Africa im thinking New Zealand will win the ODI series.

At least it wasn't a real test, then i'm sure Vettori would be kicking himself lol.

I think we have a great chance at the ODI series as well. The test series, well, we are definate underdogs and I can't say I think or expect us to win. These tests will be good to assess where we are though. For once we have a heap left to go to improve.

On the tour match, good to see Bond and Martin breakthrough early. The pitches will defiantly be favorable to the seamers at this time of the year. It shows.

->Wow, nice bowling from Oram 17-4. Great sgns. Oram in form with the ball is great news. Mason was the only bowler they seemed to have been playing comfortably.

Lots of caught behind, which shows they were bowling a good line and length.

Personally, i'd love to see a Vincent/Fulton Opening Duo in Tests with Papps/Cumming on the bench & Vincent/McCullum opening in ODIs with Fulton at #3 & Papps/How on the bench. Also, Mills,M. Gillespie,Franklin, Mason & even O'Brien are way better than Chris "Can't Bat to save his Life" Martin. Martin is the Planet's WORST TAILENDER.

Likely ODI Team :-
L. Vincent
B. McCullum (V.C)(W.K)
J. How
R. Taylor
S. Styris
J. Oram
G. Hopkins
D. Vettori (c)
