New Zealand Tour of West Indies May-July 2014

Test form on one test match? Biig form that is, one innings too.
As opposed to 4 innings on spin friendly wickets of Bangladesh. That too against a side like Bangladesh.
The point I made was that in tests he won't be nearly as effective as he has been on the IPL which was suggested earlier. Because players don't have to attack him in test matches.

One innings or not, it is improvement. Are you saying you were not impressed or encouraged by what he showed he showed in that innings vz NZ then?

BANG may be the whipping boys of international cricket, but Narine isn't a first player to have a bad games versus them.

Overall i hear a lot of windies fans of people trying to perpetuate this strange theory that Narine won't be as effective in tests because people don't have to attack him. I don't buy it. Narine has all the skills out fox batsmen in the longer format who are less attacking/defensive.

Its almost as if people won't get over his blimp in BANG & ignore that he actually showed those skills in his others tests vs NZ already & in FC cricket.

Narine is the most talented & lethal spinner in the world alongside Ajmal. But the Windies team keep finding strange ways to leave him out of the test team.

Looking at the west indies domestic stats so did every other spinner. And a good amount of them don't come with problems that Benn brings. Bishoo had just as good a year, so did imran khan, martin, miller, permaul. And if anyone deserves that spot it a Bishoo.
Benn took him self out of the team with his attitude.
But then I'm not surprised they did the same thing with Best.

Benn was part of a Barbados team that won the Super50 & the league format of the 4-day tournament this year. So I'm guessing being part of a winning team aided in his recall.

Bishoo could have played yes - but I don't see an issue with Benn playing.

And again why is Benn's attitude problems of the past still an issue? Its 4 years now since he was dropped because of this. Can't players improve?

If AUS had dwelled on David Warner's attitude problems forever after he punched Joe Root in the face on tour, they wouldn't have recalled him & he wouldn't have had such a dominant two test series vs ENG & S Africa recently.

Exactly. He should not put an IPL team above the national team.
Everyone used to criticize players when the IPL started but now its somehow fair for a player to come a few days before a test match and jump in and play after not playing first class cricket for months.
How is it fair to the players who put in the work and attend these training camps for weeks before a test series to get put on the bench so a player who chose IPL over nation wlaks into the team.
Show up, prepare like everyone else and play. Simple equation.

Narine wanted to play both. WICB has a new policy clearly stating they have created a window for IPL, so that they players can join & that the home international no longer clashes with the IPL. This is why for example for the 1st time in windies history this year, you will be playing a test match in september.

So why put the deadline for players to return on the day of the IPL? That makes no sense, especially when you have the opposition NZ team & its IPL players not getting no static from its board about when they should be in the Caribbean for their warm up games?

WICB were wrong in the past for during the early days of IPL, which is why Gayle was stupidly banned.

WICB gets 10% cut for their players being in IPL also. Preparation in international cricket is negligent. Players are accustomed to adjusting in very short space of times across formats & between series with minimal or no strong warm up games. They are highly skilled professionals.

The only way the WICB would have been in the right is if the IPL final clashed with the 1st test & Narine chose to stay instead.

The WICB makes me sick, everytime it is the same story, over and over, history repeating itself over and over again, in 95 the great Desmond Haynes were treated like a dog by the WICB and he was not allowed to play vs Australia, and what happened the series was lost. Many other individuals were treated badly like Carl Hooper, Richie Richardson, Shiv Chanderpaul etc, it just never stops. It seems they don't care about performance, the one bowler who has the ability to win a game now will not be picked. I seems that in my lifetime you will never see the best xi on the field ever, as this hasn't been happening since 95.

New Zealand Cricket -

McCullum not yet in WI for the Kiwis ffinal warm-up game & listen to how calm NZ coach has been reacting to the situation of NZ star players reaching late for IPL:

Mike Hesson said:
In the second warm-up match starting tomorrow, there?ll need to be a step up with bowlers tackling three to four spells each, and batsmen looking to be out in the middle for extended periods of time.

Today Ross Taylor and Tim Southee join the squad from the Indian Premier League which just leaves our skipper to come. Having players join the group at different times is something we?ve become accustomed to with the different formats of the game these days.

The first warm-up match was all about ensuring the guys who haven?t played cricket recently got some time out in the middle. For those coming from the IPL it?s not like they?ve been on holiday. They?ve been immersed in cricket for a long time so the transition won?t be as difficult.

That's called supporting your players, unlike what WICB did to Narine.
Seriously saying, he is right there.

The problem is WICB do not know how to support a player, neither are the willing, they just drop players as they like, if a players gets injured they do not care, look at Jerome taylor, I can name many players. same old same old always

Happy to see an attack of Taylor, Roach, but a 3rd Bowler maybe i think would be spinners, unless Gab gets a play over Benn, because i am 100% Shilly wouldnt be de one to sit down
But i would of love to See J Holder instead of Gabriel.

So Our bowling attack would be Roach, Taylor, Shillingford, Benn/Gabriel.
Batting maybe Gayle, Powell, Bravo, Edwards, Samuels, Chanderpaul and Ramdin. with Brathwaite hitting the Bench, dont see him getting infront of Gayle or Powell.
With Samuels given a bowling also.
its going to be very interesting to see what will be the final 11. But for sure they are 2 out of 3 player who will be on the bench , Brathwaitee, Gab and Benn. one of these is going to get a shot in the 11.

Anderson out of the 1st test with sprained knee, i noticed on the NZ Twitter page.

Pretty sad state of affairs really, looks like both Rutherford and Fulton will be retained. Including warm up games the both of them have barely cracked 30 in the past year :facepalm I'm assuming Guptill is injured? Otherwise thats a complete c*** up by NZC.

Also WICB have really dropped the ball with Narine. You don't get many chances to win test series and if he is there I would give us no chance, none of our batsman have the slightest clue how to play him.

Strange to see 2 spinners playing in Jamaica, knowing the history of Sabina Park helping pacers.
