Well the bowlers did well to pick up 3 more wickets considering the way Taylor and Ryder were batting.

Nice win for the Kiwis, that will keep them in the hunt for the finals. As usual great presentation Arslaan :cheers

Right then guys. Im just going to take a little break from this as I have lost a bit of intrest in the series. However, this will be back in 2-3 months/weeks :p

Yes Avroneel bhai it was a mighty break by where I have been concentrating on my studies and as the exams are nearly over, it makes my return to stories an even better one! :banana2 :)

Well due to the Sharjah Series being basically scrapped, it is time to move onto the ICC World Twenty20 scheduled in England. The group games will be a breif summary with a summaries scorecard. However, Pakistan's group games will be in depth as will be the Super Eights.

Finally, I would like to announce that this story will be played on Cricket 2005

Kind Regards
Arslaan

Younus: "We must sustain minimal damage"

Hundreds of eager journalists gathered at Lord's Media Centre where an confident Younus Khan expressed his thoughts ahead of the start of the second ICC World Twenty20.

younus375x250.jpg

"We did not play well in our two warm-up games which were against the top two teams in International Cricket (South Africa & India). However, I feel the warm-ups have given us a reality check."

"I think that by sustaining minimal damage in the group stages will increase our chances of being able to take on the tougher teams when we get into the Super Eights." "Also I feel with the inclusion of Abdul Razzaq into the squad will boost our pace attack aswell as our late hitting power in our batsmen."

The 15-man squad for Pakistan was named on 1st June, 2009 as follows.

Younus Khan (Captain)
Abdul Razzaq
Ahmed Shahzad
Fawad Alam
Rao Iftikhar Anjum
Kamran Akmal (Wicketkeeper)
Misbah-ul-Haq
Mohammad Aamer
Saeed Ajmal
Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Shahzaib Hasan
Shoaib Malik
Sohail Tanvir
Umer Gul

Pakistan will play their opening game of the tournament against the hosts England on 7th June.

ICC World Twenty20 2009
Game 1: England vs Netherlands Preview
th June, 2009

Desired Dutch wish to cause an upset

The hosts will have a slight sense of pressure when they play the opening game of Group B against the Netherlands today. However, England captain Paul Collingwood has erased all doubt that there will be the element of pressure on his team. In a statement released a short while ago, Collingwood said.

Collingwood: There will be the odd surprise here and there

"We are not one of the favourites to win this year's tournament and I feel in this tournament as it is Twenty20 there will be the odd surprise here and there. Regarding today's match I feel that we should win and face Pakistan on Sunday with enough leverage that if we do lose our Net Run Rate will still be in positive figures".

The mood in the Dutch camp is relaxed. Despite being the underdogs, the Netherlands feel that a win against England would almost guarantee them a place in the Super Eights. Wicketkeeper and Captain Jeroen Smits gave his views in a press conference following Collingwood's statement.

Smits: We are the underdogs

"Well we are coming into the tournament as one of the underdogs and no one expects us to go into the Super Eights. However, I fell with the likes of ten Doeschate and Nannes who have played in England with their respective clubs beforehand will definatly give us a boost. It goes without a doubt to say that England are a good team with a lot of strength. Today we will give it our all."

Danger Men
England
Kevin Pietersen - The key to England's big-hitting in the middle-order will rest on former England captain Kevin Pietersen. Pietersen has been known for his dynamic power hitting aswell as his orthodox strokes. The Dutch will have to be aware of his "Switch-hit"

Netherlands
Dirk Nannes - A cricketer who speaks Japanese aswell as running a sucessful ski-travel company, Nannes has been clocked at over 90mph. A left arm seamer, Nannes has the brutality of an Australian being born in Melbourne. If he can get going, he will be a formidable force to contend with in his 24 deliveries he fires down.
