Pakistan and Australia in the UAE August-September 2012

kamran Akmal is the best keeper after Moin and Rashid .The better team won , Australia are @#9 in t20 and Pakistan @#6 so Pakistan deserved the victory.

What kind of disgraceful team did Australia pick today??

:facepalm. We have seen the first signs today of Bailey presence in the team is messing up the balance and the selectors thinking of what the best t20 XI should be. They couldn't leave White out and picked 3 front-line bowlers, smh...

Plus i'm finding it quite strange how Hogg has been unused in t20s this year. AUS have not picked him T20s and he is supposedly the main t20 spinner.

Sighs..Australia in t20 cricket for years now is always disgusting to watch.

Akmal's a shocking wicketkeeper who can bat a bit in the shorter form of the game.

He should be opening in shorter form of games and yes I agree with you .:)

8 batsmen made 73 between them; I think it's grossly simplistic to argue either that only one of the batsmen was accountable or that the bowling attack was the big problem.

Axing from ODIs is exactly the kind of kick in the ass that Gul needed. He looked focused and determined. I would hate to see the "other" Gul reappear in the remaining matches. I think Australia let Pakistani bowlers dominate. I don't remember watching any feet movement down the wicket from their top batsmen. You can not play spin through guess work on the backfoot.

A great win for us :cheers Australia seriously went with a wrong approach against our spinners.A good comeback for Gul as well.Liked the way Hasan bowled in his debut,he just have to bowl a bit slower in the air and he will get more turn.Poor Razzaq didn't get chance to bowl or bat because of our good spin attack but I am sure he will be handy with the bowl as well because Tanvir sometimes can go for Plenty of runs.So we have a good balanced team for the World t20.It is ridiculous that Junaid Khan is not included in the squad and i feel sorry for Anwer Ali.The poor lad will may not represent Pakistan in future as it has happened with many players. He really deserved a chance in ODI series

White is way too low, he did his best work at 3 not coming in trying to smack it. Maxwell at 8 is a waste too, the selectors are doing a Smith on him, he should be at 7 and Hogg should have been playing.

^Yeah the team was a mess, like War complained a little earlier...but it doesn't matter who they play if the batting is going to be so awful as that...Honestly, that was pitiful stuff.

But who are these specialist that are doing so well at the moment, that demand selection in the Australian ODI team in the likely positions, the likes of Maxwell, M Marsh or Christian would play?

In my opinion of the best AUS ODI XI, i don't see any specialist batsman or bowler who demands selections.

I can buy the 'no good batsmen around' part, but I think there are LOTS of pace bowling options that could be tried. Starc, Pattinson and Cummins are all there to be chosen. Hilfenhaus, McKay and Johnson are all better than Christian. Digging deeper we can find more too: Bollinger, Harris, McDermott etc.

I can see why Maxwell is picked - he's at least got potential (with bat...can't see anything special with ball), but I can't see how Christian's bowling will improve much, and he hardly gets a bat at #8. I hated James Hopes and Ian Harvey getting picked as #8s when they rarely ever got to bat while much better bowlers were in the wings eg. think of the pace bowling stocks being wasted in Aussie cricket while Harvey was playing at #8...:facepalm And of those 3, I think Christian is the worst bowler. I just can't see the appeal :(

Grr...anyway I could go on...but that's not the main problem  Top order ODI batting is woeful and if I were chairman of selectors I would be making some changes this summer. Watson, Clarke, M.Hussey are the planks to build around (Hussey for one more year). Maxwell and Bailey deserve to be retained. Warner, D.Hussey and Wade I would drop -each of them have been below par in EVERY ONE of the 3 overseas ODI tours and I think it's time the message was sent out that no one has a 'right' to a spot in the team. Has to be earned.

Stupid Twenty20. And now with the Big Bash league, it won't go away. I thought though we always played well at home in the format?

T20 is a game where any team has a chance to win unlike odi's and test cricket we can actually decide which team is better.

Why is Hafeez captain, what a uselessly slow innings, thank god Kamran Akmal saved us, great catch Christian BTW. Didn't know he could field this well

Both teams are fighting hard .But still I am praying for Pakistan .

Good captaincy by Hafeez , but Baily played lot lot more better , Australia is going to win as Baily is still on pitch .
