Good win by England.

Mahmood has improved a lot, he could become an alright bowler with time and get more consistant. Still, I wouldn't have him in the ODI side for a while.

Pakistan should win the ODI series easily, I hope Akhtar plays.

Still 1 test to go. I guess Pakistan are playing for pride. England will want 3-0

The potential series outcomes in terms of ICC rankings.

So we could either have as much as a 7 point lead or as little as a 1 point lead.

Oh and as it'll probably come up the reason why we can gain so many points in a home series is that it's our first win at home vs Pakistan since the early 80s.

I apologize England did play good cricket, but my point is throughout the Test Series the level of umpiring has been extremly poor, as this being a high profile test series why umpires can't use the technology why can't they consult the third umpire on decision they aren't sure of.

That is exactly why England shouldn't switch off at The Oval. Three-nil will benefit us a lot more than 2-1.

That's to do with the ICC not the umpires.

The umpires don't have a say in the laws the ICC pass, or do they?

well i think ICC do consult with the umpires as they are choosen by ICC themselves, this would surely ease of pressure on the umpires

well I wouldnt blame umpires for what happened today. It was just terrible batting, except a couple of exceptional dismissals like Monty to Younis Khan, and maybe Mahmood to Akmal. I really hope Pak get atleast a consolation win, and then win 5-0 in ODI's. Even though a 5-0 win in ODI's wont cover for test series losss, but it would give us atleast something from this tour!

I have a funny feeling that if England win at The Oval then they could win the ODI series. Highly unlikely, but we are overdue an ODI series victory.

Don't think it works like that...
We might win the twenty20 but we'll get hammered in the ODI's.

Yeah it was silly of me to say that. A rare act of optimism from me. How could I be so foolish to think England could win an ODI series? A Mersey derby victory for the blues is more likely.

Agreed. 6 wickets for a spinner at Headingley. MoM definitely Monty.

Congratulations to all the English fans. Good show by Monty and Sajid.
Monty's getting the likes of Younis, Inzi, and Tendulkar out. These guys can play spin with the edge of their bat.

Monty's definitely in the same league as Shane Warne and Murali.

I'm not sure about being in the same league as those two, but he definitley ranks up with Harbajhan and Vettori.

Vettori ? Monty is miles ahead of Vettori...

and Im sure Pakistan wont let u guys win the ODI series after test series loss :)
a century or 2 from Afridi would make me really happy!

England won't let themselves win, we're terrible at ODIs. I expect a whitewash myself.

He has had 9 tests, and he is already above Vettori and Harbijhan? And in Murili and Warnes league??? WTF!!!

Ridiculous! You can't even put those bowlers in the same sentance yet.

Monty has had a great start, yes, but he is new on the scene. After a year of playing we will see.

Infact the Ashes should tell. Vettori does well against Australia, we will see how Monty goes. I am looking forward to it. Seeing him bowl and Warne bowl. The wickets in Australia probably won't offer Monty as much assistance as he has gotten so far.
