They're still idiots then. He can't even play for Pakistan.

Given the way he bowled yesterday, and with Asif and Akhtar likely to miss The Oval, i'm sure they would welcome him in their side with open arms.

I'd continue to support my team but if my son played in a team against it I'd always support my son. Supporting your family is much more important than you're nationality or favorite team. Atleast to me anyway.

Exactly your family is the most important thing in your life.

Whilst I, and indeed anyone really, can't and shouldn't condone that sort of abuse I think it may well have been a good thing for Mahmood. Generally you want your fast bowlers to be aggressive and fired up and it seemed to do the trick nicely. You see it with some football players where getting abused by the crowd only inspires them onto greater performances.

Also bodes well for his future I feel, shows he can handle pressure and hopefully he can push on with his career and develop into a useful quick bowler for England.

I don't mean to sound harsh here, and I mean it in a good way, but if he bowls like that every time he is verbally abused then it can only be good for England.

More bad news for Pakistan; Mohammed Asif has returned home and won't play in the 4th Test. I highly doubt that Shaoib will play either.
Actually Woolmer has decided to hold back on Asif since Akhtar will be playing. I'm thinking if they don't play Akhtar, Asif will be in.

"Monty is best in world - Fletcher"

Regardless if he is actually the best in the world it's still nice to see Fletcher give the praise Monty deserves after being very cold towards him.

Nice to see that. Hopefully Fletch realises that Panesar can bowl quality sides out, wheras Giles would struggle to bowl my school side out.

I think Panesar is the second best finger-spinner in the world though; I think Vettori just has the edge because he has played more games and taken more wickets. I'm confident that Panesar will become better than him in the future. If Monty performs well in Australia then I would definitley put him in the World Class list.

I'm glad Akhtar is playing to be honest; I honestly don't think he will be bowling consitently or rapidly. I can't help but feel that he has been rushed back. Fair enough, Pakistan want to score a consolation victory at The Oval, but they shouldn't be risking Akhtar like this.

It was probably an effort by the Pakistani crowd to unsettle him, which obviously didn't work. A bit like Aussie fans calling Murali a chucker. No reason to take it so seriously. We now have a Pakistani and an Indian (by blood only of course) playing in the England team. All it changes for me is that now I will be cheering those two on against Australia.

Finally Fletcher has said something nice about him. To me he wasn't keen on Monty but after his Headingley performance he couldn't say anything else bad about him because people would go against him causing friction. Nice to see him praise Monty P :D

Well like I said it's very debateable whether he is or not and people could debate it for ages and not persaude the other side. I'm just happy that Fletcher is giving him some credit.

yea now that I think about it, Akthar should be the one rested..Asif has atleast proven that he is fully fit as he had a game in which he bowled 10 overs at consistently good speed..
and Akthar needs to be saved for champions trophy, SAF tour and World Cup

And all australian wickets are as unhelpful as headingley?

Well, Monty did get some turn and some very good bounce.

I look forward to it anyway.

Monty has had as good a start at Vettori if not a little better. So he is on the right track. Some players start well and go through rough patches, some start bad and really get good. Some start good and just stay that way. Theres a long way to go. I defiantly think Monty is the right choice for the Ashes. I don't think anyone doubts it. He is 100 times better than Giles. That is for sure.

At this stage, Monty seems to be more a consistant performer than a superstar like Murili who gets consecutive 10fors.

What do you rekon Monty for ODI's? England will need 2 spinners for the world cup and more in the squad probably. Obviously some think he is one of the best finger spinners. He should be able to cope. I see no excuses why not.

I am glad Akhtar is playing also, so long as he gets through it ok. Even if its just for match practice and he is used sparingly. Getting him match fit and ready for the ODI's and future matches is impoortant now that the series is dead.

People also seem to think that his only asset is his pace. I am sure he will still trouble batsmen.

I'd play Monty and JD in ODI's. Monty seems to be very underrated with the bat, and he looks capable of hitting a mean cricket ball. You never know when his lusty blows will come in handy in the latter stages of a run chase. I'd definitley play JD though; He was our only consistent performer in the disastrous Sri Lanka series.
