I think Collingwood needs to be dropped for Flintoff. His bowling is poor and Bell is a better batsman. Its harsh as he has a good record and has played very well.

I feel sorry for Bell, because of his nightmare Ashes last year, Fletcher probably thinks that he will be a weak link against the same opposition this time around.

England need something special today; 2 in 2 or a hat-trick is a hard ask but it's about the only thing to get us back into the game.

I'm watching 'Pioneer's of Cricket' as it is being showed during the lunch break on Sky. It's interesting to see that Waqar Younis speaks very good English, and he seems to be a nice man behind his fast bowler image.

Yes, I am very imprssed with the Pakistan players on that show. They are true gentlemen and very generous. Especially Wasim and Waqar who have shared their knowledge with English bowlers, despite being labeled "Cheats" by the English media some time ago. Their determination is tremendous.

Most impressive though is Imran Khan. His achievements off the field have been even more great.

I grew up in India in the 80s. Relations between India and Pakistan were bad and unfortunately that environment led me to hate Pakistan. But, after watching Cricket all these years, I learnt more about Pakistan players and Pakistan itself, and developed an admiration for them. Now I have a couple of good Pakistani friends and have no animosity in my heart for Pakistan.

Moral of the story being, Ignorance breeds hatred, and Cricket can knock down walls people build between themselves.

I am tempted to make a list of 10 Greatest Asian Players of all time.
Here we go:
1. Imran Khan
2. Sunil Gavaskar
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Wasim Akram
5. Kapil Dev
6. Inzi
7. Sanath Jaysuriya
8. Arjuna Ranatunga
9. Anil Kumble
10. Murali

Other contenders include Javed Mianadad, Zaheer Abbas, Gundappa Vishwanath, Vaas, Mohd. Yousuf, Waqar Younis, Rahul Dravid, and Bishen Singh Bedi.

I was trying to say 10 greatest Asian Batsman .

I love rain, the break in play gives us a chance to see the Edgbaston Test again. I can never tire of watching Tres, KP and Freddy bashing the Aussies to all parts, especially as I have been rasied on Aussie batsmen smashing us everywhere.

Good times!

Great batting from Pakistan. Hafeez looked like the best opener by a mile. Good to see Farhat put in a good contirbution and Yousef was fantastic.

The bowling was crappy. Harmison was inconsistant. Just when he looks like hes getting back to his best be bowls terribly. Mahmood about the same things can be said for him.

Monty has been pretty ineffective so far. Nothing in the pitch for him. That shot Hafeez played for six was a beauty.

Yeh Monty I think isn't bowling with his normal enthusiastic energy.

Maybe due to tiredness, still had a LBW shout that was plumb (hitting middle to top of leg) but then Danish has had plenty turned down.

Hoggard has bowled quite well in this innings, and has had 3 dropped catches, if only we held on to Yousuf at 5 or 9 things could be so different.
Mahmoods done alright and when he gets it right he is quite dangerous but he just bowls short and wide balls to release the pressure.

Less said about Harmison the better.

Edit:

I wouldn't read too much about our bowlers form going into the Ashes, England players tend to get better when the opposition is Australia.

Surprisingly our ODI record vs them lately is as good vs them as anyone else in the world!

Surely Harmison has got the message that bowling short 4 times in an over is not going to get him to many wickets? And as I type, Inzy pulls another short ball away for four.

If he had the message then we would be in a much better position wouldn't we?

Your right though, they should watch how Pakistan bowled when we batted and see how to do it. At least Hoggy has the right idea.

The only times I saw Harmison trouble the batsmen before lunch was when he pushed it up and they played and missed. Just short of a length was good too, as he was aiming for their upper body but banging it halfway down the pitch and to the legside isn't going to do him any favors.

How did he pick up his two wickets?

He only got one and it was with a full ball. Just as I have been saying.

Hoggard got his wicket with a full away-swinger which drew MoYo into the shot.
