I can't see how they could ever go back to mahmood in the ODI's..short and wide..wide and short..thats his only variation..

Had his chance..got DESTROYED..someone else's turn..

Don't think harmison will be risked..not fit

Loye spends his time in County Cricket picking off medium pacers who offer up the odd length ball. He wouldn't stand a chance against top pace bowlers with the ball swinging. He's in the ICC Squad as a way of the Panel saying 'we do look at country cricket.'

I think the selectors will give Mahmood another go after he recovered well for the Test matches. I did forget about Harmison's injury though, but I doubt if the selectors will try anybody new.

Although this is an England selection panel that uses batting ability as a defining factor when selecting a spin bowler.

Sadly, that's true. The fact that Monty isn't included is just stupid. I'm a fan of Dalrymple though, I hope he does well again.

In other news, James Anderson is back to playing village cricket in Burnley, but he will only be batting and fielding to get some match-fitness under his bell. No bowling sadly, but it's good to see him playing again.

Alastair Cook. A fine Test player but i'd rather have Loye in there at the moment.

played 2 ODI's..41 and 39..not tooo shabby..

I could stomach Loye being in the team..but i'd drop Bell..

How will we know how good or bad he is if he doesn't get a chance? By your logic, every batsman in County cricket isn't good enough to play at International level.

recovered? still looks average to me...lack any sort of basic control..I still doubt if he'd make Lancashire's 1st XI

Well it's between Bell and Cook as to who Loye replaces, but they are both similar players in the sense that they won't play too aggresivley and they can build innings. We don't need both in the side and i'd go with Bell.

No, you look at the way in which Players play the game. Loye plays a lot of improvised shots, such as his slog sweeps off pace bowlers, which is what has made him succesful. Can you seriously see that working when Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar are firing in 98mph yorkers in the Caribbean? I'd much rather see a technically better batsman given a go, such as Ed Joyce, who was in the team before he was injured. Although he should by no means be opening.

incidently..have we forgotten about Ed Joyce?

He was in the ODI squad until injury forced him out..

Will they recall him??

Who cares how old he is? If someone is good enough to play, he should play.

I don't agree. The team needs to be picked for the future so we have a chance to win the 2011 world cup. What's the point of picking a guy whose going to retire in two seasons when a younger guy could be getting the experience.
Incidentally I hear that Ian Botham has been in good form against his grandkids at the park - time for a recall?

You seem to have misunderstood, I wouldn't pick him, but I think the selectors will.
