How the hell is Chapple a 'proven performer'? The guy has a terrible average and his economy rate is too high in Domestic one day cricket, let alone for a ODI player. Chapple never was, isn't and never will be good enough to take wickets for England, get over it.

This long running joke with Loye is getting a bit old as well, get some new material.

And I suppose Clarke's figures are exceptional aren't they?

And why is Loye a joke then?

Our first wicket has had only one century scored in ODI's since we played Australia at Headingley last year. England have let the Pakistan openers bowl dots at them, something that Loye won't let happen.

I've told you before, Loye is only succesful in the one day game due to picking off medium pacers, bowlers similar to Chapple incidently. All his shots he uses to improvise would not work in ODI cricket. Can you see him getting down on one knee to Shoaib Akhtar and hoisting him over midwicket for 6? I sure as hell can't. He'd go down on one knee and cop one in his chest.

Since when has the sweep been his only shot?

It's his strongest asset i'll agree, but believe me, his cut shots and his cover-driving are excellent. He is worth a place in the England squad, regardless of how many young players you want to play.

Tomurow? Gosh, that takes incomprehensable text speak to a new level!

But I wouldn't read too much into the weather, until I actually see it tomorrow, i'm not jumping to any conclusions.

Stop acting like an idiot.

Well thank you very much for your concern, i'll bear that in mind.

Unlike some people, i'd like to stay on-topic so here's my side for tomorrow;

1.Trescothick
2.Bell
3.Strauss
4.Pietersen
5.Collingwood
6.Dalrymple
7.Yardy
8.Read
9.Gough
10.Mahmood
11.Broad

Yes i'm aware that my beloved Chapple and Loye aren't in there, but I can't pick them if they aren't in the squad can I?

You were the one mentioning text talk.

Anyways:

1. Trescothick
2. Read
3. Bell
4. Strauss
5. Pietersen
6. Collingwood
7. Yardy
8. Clarke
9. Lewis
10. Gough
11. Broad

Tell Read to attack to get him out of the way nice and early. Bell and Strauss are there to build a platform, leaving the fireworks of KP and the crafty nudging technique of Collingwood for the last 20 or so. Yardy gets the nod over Dalrymple as I'd go for an agressive batsman down the order, that and I think Pace will be the key, so 3 pacers with Clarke and Collingwood to back them up. :)

Lewis as first change by the way, with Read upto the stumps if needed.

Swap Dalrymple for Clarke and i'd agree with that squad. Read opening would definitley be a gamble, but I can see him doing well with his stand and deliver approach to batting. Pietersen at 5 is a bit risky as we may need him at 4 to boost the scoring rate. That's if he overcomes his bunny status against Asif. I don't agree at all with Clarke at 8, because I thought he was in the squad for his batting? Batsmen don't bat at 8 very often. I'd put JD there because i'm pretty certain that he's in the squad for his bowling primarily. I'd have Gough and Broad batting before Lewis as well.

It's Bell's fault really. If he hadn't scored 88 he wouldn't be in that team, as I don't like Collingwood at 6 either. Clarke is agressive which is needed down the order and he's the best available at the moment. Lewis is a decent batsman though, has won a few games for Gloucestershire over the years.

Dalrymple wouldn't work lower than 6 either as he seems afraid to just throw the bat and take some responsibility.

Fair point about Clarke, he is aggressive, but I just don't think he's up to scratch. I definitley like the idea of Read opening though; Can't believe I never thought of that. Apparantley Fletcher is settled on Tres and Strauss opening in both forms of the game thhough.

Now that bit on Read. Is that down to you thinking he's not good enough, or to attack the first 15? (Which didn't work with Jones).

This would be my line-up from current squad:

1.Trescothick
2.Read
3.Strauss
4.Pietersen
5.Collingwood
6.Dalrymple
7.Yardy
8.Clarke
9.Gough
10.Lewis
11.Broad

Read in pinch hitting role, giving clarke a go ahead of Mahmod just to see what he can do.

Hell even if those were terrible, they are still heaps better then Clarke's figures.
