Is it me, or is their a similar feeling about this game to the Old Trafford Ashes test last year? Australia were seven down on the fourth morning and we took the last wickets quickly. We then scored at a good rate with Strauss getting a 100 and number 4 Ian Bell got 50. Strauss is on his way to a century now, and number 4 KP is on for a 50.

Not anymore he isn't, as I type KP is stumped by a mile.

But as long as Strauss stays in we can get a lead of 350+ which puts Pakistan out of the game. England need a few overs at Pakistan tonight though.

Come on Colly!!

KP gone stumped Akmal off Afridi.

Why advance down the pitch then play a defensive shot?

I wouldn't risk advancing down the pitch to Afridi full stop. He bowls fast and skiddy so I just wouldn't do it.

Why do England always lose a wicket when I type?

Both centurions gone for a combined total of 7 second time round. Pakistan have a sniff.

Afridi is an idiot; He has no sportsmanship about him whatsoever.

Another gone! England in a bit of trouble here. Still at 230/4, they have the upper hand. They should try not to get bowled out today. With 40 overs left they could get a lead of 360, which should be matchsaving, if not match winning.

If Pakistan bowl England out today then Pakistan will win because they will have the momentum. If England get a substantial lead and get enough confidence to declare, then England won't lose.

It'll be a draw, barring a massive collapse from either side. England aren't in a position to set a big target and leave a lot of time to bowl Pakistan out.

England can still get a substantial lead and leave them some time at the end of the day to bowl at Pakistan. They need 100 runs to get a 350 lead, and if they score quickly then they may be able to declare tonight.

EDIT: Nice innings by Strauss, although it would have been a lot nicer had he not ran Bell out.

Jones has a good opportunity to prove his worth here; although i'm sure i'm not alone in thinking that he won't take this chance.

I don't understand why we're only scoring at 2.88 an over. There have been far too many games recently where we've had a first innings lead but simply run out of time in which to bowl the opposition out.
I can understand why we're happy to take the draw and go into the second test all square but this seems to be happening rather a lot.

Agreed. Although the spinners are bowling well, England should be taking more risks here. If England don't bowl tonight, which looks unlikely, then this game is a nailed on draw. I'm disaponited with the way England have approached this innings today, and teh SKY commentators are even talking about England batting tomorrow.

Gojo's 9 of 45 Balls in this situation! Very disappointing indeed!

Is it me or has no-one picked up on the fact that Akmal looked to take the wickets out before the ball hit them ?

He did it unintentionaly and to the naked eye, it was unnoticable.

People would soon moan though if he got out easily or playing a stupid shot, he needs some runs for a much needed confidence boost.

He may have done, but he did it before the ball hit the wicket so should it have still been out ?
