He may have done, but he did it before the ball hit the wicket so should it have still been out ?

Techincally, I think so. I'm no expert by any means, but most of the bails were still on the stumps so I think he would still have been given out.

This is a strange innings from GoJo; One of the few times he is given license to hit and he hasn't hit a boundary yet.

EDIT: GoJo gone! Soft dissmissal really, although he might have been a tad unlucky there. Come on Pudsey, it's all on you for some quick runs here.

Gerinat Jones is an absolute joke. Wastes 54 balls then gets out. GET HIM OUT!

Looks like he didn't get instructions from the team management to accelerate.

What he did looks selfish, although it might not have been his fault.

I think the radio commentators are right is saying he was following orders from Strauss, he never scores as slowly as he did today.

Two quick wickets for Pakistan and i've gone into pessimistic mode again. Pakistan can really smell blood now. England need to bowl exceptionally well tomorrow; Yousef and Inzamam need to be ridden of quickly or England are 1-0 down.

I'm not sure they can chase 350 in 80 overs which is about the worst case scenario. That's already about 4.5 an over and England will obviously look to increase the runs with some quick hitting (or not!).
It'll be a draw and then I'm taking 10,000 of aussie1st's vcash! (see the vbookie thread for details).

Your assessment is too pessimistic. 350 Runs is Huge on the fifth day.
Botham is saying that all England has to do is get Inzi and Yusuf out. The other Pakistan batsmen will crumble under pressure it seems.
I think Pakistan will bat all day easily.

I think Strauss will do the "Safe thing", by getting 35 odd runs tommorrow morning, and then declaring on 375.
He said there's not much for Seamers on this Pitch and acknowledged the flat wicket.
With Freddie absent, Hoggy not 100% fit, and Panesar failing to impress, declaring on 375 looks like the right thing to do.

Hey, of course i'm pessimistic, i'm English and i'm also an Everton fan!

It will be a hard ask for Pakistan, but India had a go at it against us in Nagpur so I think that Pakistan will fancy their chances.

Who says Plunkett, Hoggard, Harmison and Panesar can get 35 runs.

Who says they can't? ;)

Indifferent day today, gorgeous hundred from Strauss, who has already surpassed the ammount of hundreds Fleming has iirc. Or levelled anyway. Yup he has levelled him, in nearly a quarter of the tests.

Great conversion rate for Strauss too. Jones innings, was incredibly confusing. Worst player of spin in the England batting ranks by a long way.

Well, the Key tommorow for Pakistan is getting them out fast. 350, I say is a pretty good contest. Say we get them out in 5 overs, and we have 85 Overs left. 350 in 85 Overs, would mean a RRR of 4.11. As Woolmer says that the new ball will be the key, Get through Harmison and Hoggard, and the rest is pretty easy. He also said that the ball gets softer as the day goes on and it gets easier to bat.

Yep, England need a lead of at least 400 before they put Pakistan in to bat tomorrow. Anything less and Pakistan still have a chance of winning this game. Gonna be a draw though, I reckon.
erm, I don't think England would be able to make 400 lead, Pakistan on a good position now, win or a draw. YAY!

Cricinfo - 'Strauss ton puts England in charge' how much garbage?

The way I see it, the match is almost evenly poised with England having the slight advantage. Batting on a fifth day pitch won't be too easy.
