Scotland Off To A Flyer
Asif Picks Up Two Wickets
Scotland got their run-chase off to a cracking start scoring at 10.60 runs per over. The opening bowlers for Pakistan were Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.
Frazer Watts and Karl Koetzer strode out to the middle knowing that this would be challenging for them.
OVER 1:
Shoaib was bowling in the high 90's but his line was wrong. Frazer Watts advanced down the track and smashed him for six. Shoaib was frustrated as Scotland took 12 off him in his first over.
Over 2:
The Scottish openers were facing a tough time against Asif, playing and missing on several occasions. However Coetzer was trying to get off the mark in an explosive way. He edged to Kamran Akmal at slip. It was a good catch as it kept low. Pakistan celebrated.
Over 3:
Shoaib was trying too hard in this over. Watts had had no problems so far in hitting Shoaib for sixes. Skipper Shoaib Malik told Akhtar to take a rest. Shoaib's two overs had gone for 18.
Over 4:
Watts was looking very good so far in his breif stay at the crease. He had already dispatched Asif in this over for a four over mid-on's head. But this time the slower-ball did the trick. Asif knew that taking pace off the ball would be vital. Unfortunatly for Watts he misread it and the ball wait straight up in the air and down mid-on's throat. Asif is bowling very well.
Over 5:
Captain Shoaib Malik brought on Abdur Rehman quite early to the surprise of Shoaib Akhtar. It was overall a bad descision. Rehman was consistently flighted the ball up not trying anything else and got the treatment by S.Coetzer who smashed 3 sixes of him! Overall his opening over went for 20 runs!
So Scotland off to a great start despite the two wickets. Asif is bowling very well and S.Coetzer is looking in great nick. Can Pakistan peg the Scots back a little?
Positive start by Scotland but i think they will collapse. Good bowling by Mohammad Asif, wish him best of luck in 20:20 world cup. Shoaib need to improve on his line and length. :shout go Pakistan...
Rao Ifkithar Anjum got lucky wicket, which should've been credited to Abdur Rehman's fantastic catch. Coetzer went for a good 33, but Scotland needed more from him. The Spot shows that the ball hit the edge of the bat which made it catchable for Rehman.
In the 9th Over, Pakistan had gotten another wicket. This time it was Arafat whose Fast bowling brought a inside edge which went onto hit the stumps. Arafat celebrated the captains wicket. Scotland now were shaking.
Tight bowling from Rao and Arafat caused another wicket to fall in the 11th over. Hamilton couldn't stand the pressure and he hit it straight to Afridi who took the catch safely. Scotland now really needed to pick things up. Just steady the ship a little. Try to last the last 8 overs. Surely they should get past 100.
