Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

You guys made Hauritz look better than he is but Harris looks every bit as good as hes bowled. Swing at 140km/h+, the aggression that the selectors love and an yorker he can call upon at will.

Michelle for Harris and a very classy catch from Brad Haddin. He might be as good as Matt Prior one day.

I see what you did there :laugh

For what it's worth, I don't think Haddin's even LOOKED like dropping anything all summer. It's just smacking straight into the middle of his gloves. There was a gloved leg side chance from Yousuf last night and I fully expected Haddin to get there even though it was WELL wide. Even so he was only a few inches away. That broken finger was the best thing that's ever happened. It got his footwork going and it let us see that Tim Paine is kinda good too.

McKay has been great since his debut, fitted in nicely, but never gets talked out due to his apparent normal un-exciting bowling. Does the job required of him.

Agree. I thought he was particularly good last night even though he didn't get the wickets. He was doing just as I imagined, bowling line and length and making it hard to work him for runs.

He was awesome. I nearly choked on the mango when I saw the swing. I haven't seen any non-reverse Aussie swing since the first Test :noway The contrast with Harris and Siddle was so telling. Siddle was dead straight and slower despite bowling down breeze.

It makes an interesting conundrum for the selectors. What is our best bowling side? Here's how I'd rate the quicks if all were fit:
1. Lee - if yorker is going he's my #1 because usually our death bowling lacks a bit.
2. Johnson - handy batsman, plus can pull wickets from nowhere
3. Bracken - will be needed in World Cup as he can almost be your 2nd spinner
4. Harris - normally I hate band wagonning. But the dude actually swings it, bowls with good pace and can get those yorkers in too. Can bat and field. Looks the goods to me.
5. McKay/Bollinger - McKay looks a potentially ideal 3rd seamer, unfortunately we already have Mitch. Bollinger isn't as impressive as Harris right now. Not as much swing, less yorkers and less ability with bat and in field.
6.
7. Tait - love to see him back
8. Siddle/Hilfy - Siddle has potential, but he needs to do a lot better in my eyes. Very hittable bowling with a few good un's randomly sprinkled in. And Hilfy was never really a great ODI bowler.
9.

So given the questions over Lee and Bracken, right now my pace attack would be Harris and Bollinger followed by Johnson.

when the captain says constantly that we are playing against the best team in the world and don't expect much from us... how will the players respond?

he is not leading from the front and his state of mind is evident from his interviews. I don't usually call for heads to roll at the drop of the hat, but Pakistan's form has been incredibly bad for quite some time. Winning one game against India to reach Champion's Trophy semi-final does not count.... they have shown gutless performance since Pakistan won the T20.... losing from winning positions twice against Sri Lanka, then New Zealand and now Australia.... like they have forgotten how to win....

when a captain and coach stops believing that fielding is an important part of the game, you don't deserve to be in the team.... at the end of the day Pakistani fans just keep adding to their frustrations....

What is even more evident as shown by the Under 19 team is that the talent is immense, but it never gets nurtured. Where other teams like Australia and South Africa are able to utilize their limited resources into world class beaters, we hardly improve... which is also why even our newly drafted teenagers end up performing so well......

the problem is that they never reach their true potential because of unprofessionalism and mismanagement.... quite a sorry affair...

I feel sorry for Mohammed Yousef, he is copping the brunt of what happened with Younis Khan, he isn't a captain. His batting has been third rate despite being one of the best batsmen in the world, his captaincy is as negative as any I have seen and his captaincy alone imo cost Pakistan the test at the SCG. But it isn't just him, Pakistan needs stability if it is ever to compete on a full time basis with the top teams, they have the talent but dropping guys every second match and dropping captains every losing series isn't the answer.

TBH from they way Yousef has captained I reckon he doesn't want it.

stereotype added 3 Minutes and 3 Seconds later...

The only problem with Clint McKay imo is the same with Peter Siddle and that is he doesn't pitch the ball full enough imo, another half a metre fuller and he would be a tough bowler to contend with in both tests and ODIs.

There's a ridiculous amount of pace bowlers aruond the country. It's scary :|

Pakistani cricket fans rally to condemn a poor performance of their national team in Karachi. Protesters burn an effigy of Pakistan Cricket Board's chief and demand his resignation.

I don't blame them to be honest lol!!.
If I was a Pakistani player I would think hard before going back:D

But Ijaz butt have to go because he decisions have been poor

Wild thing is back! No idea why Johnson hasn't been mentioned as the replacement for Siddle who is again struggling with a back injury.

Tait needs a kick up the arse. I'm sick of this "I cant bowl 10 overs" crap. Just run in and bowl mate. Fast bowlers worldwide must be shaking their heads at Tait when he says he cant play FC cricket because its too long.
