Michelle for Harris and a very classy catch from Brad Haddin. He might be as good as Matt Prior one day.
I see what you did there :laugh
For what it's worth, I don't think Haddin's even LOOKED like dropping anything all summer. It's just smacking straight into the middle of his gloves. There was a gloved leg side chance from Yousuf last night and I fully expected Haddin to get there even though it was WELL wide. Even so he was only a few inches away. That broken finger was the best thing that's ever happened. It got his footwork going and it let us see that Tim Paine is kinda good too.
McKay has been great since his debut, fitted in nicely, but never gets talked out due to his apparent normal un-exciting bowling. Does the job required of him.
Agree. I thought he was particularly good last night even though he didn't get the wickets. He was doing just as I imagined, bowling line and length and making it hard to work him for runs.
You guys made Hauritz look better than he is but Harris looks every bit as good as hes bowled. Swing at 140km/h+, the aggression that the selectors love and an yorker he can call upon at will.
He was awesome. I nearly choked on the mango when I saw the swing. I haven't seen any non-reverse Aussie swing since the first Test
The contrast with Harris and Siddle was so telling. Siddle was dead straight and slower despite bowling down breeze.
It makes an interesting conundrum for the selectors. What is our best bowling side? Here's how I'd rate the quicks if all were fit:
1. Lee - if yorker is going he's my #1 because usually our death bowling lacks a bit.
2. Johnson - handy batsman, plus can pull wickets from nowhere
3. Bracken - will be needed in World Cup as he can almost be your 2nd spinner
4. Harris - normally I hate band wagonning. But the dude actually swings it, bowls with good pace and can get those yorkers in too. Can bat and field. Looks the goods to me.
5. McKay/Bollinger - McKay looks a potentially ideal 3rd seamer, unfortunately we already have Mitch. Bollinger isn't as impressive as Harris right now. Not as much swing, less yorkers and less ability with bat and in field.
6.
7. Tait - love to see him back
8. Siddle/Hilfy - Siddle has potential, but he needs to do a lot better in my eyes. Very hittable bowling with a few good un's randomly sprinkled in. And Hilfy was never really a great ODI bowler.
9.
So given the questions over Lee and Bracken, right now my pace attack would be Harris and Bollinger followed by Johnson.
