He's a good batsman and his keeping isn't the worst around. He actually did a sound job in New Zealand. He wouldn't wanna make another mistake though. Dropping a player like Ponting is a big no-no. (Assuming he hit it)

Wicket keeper's primary and more important task in to take catches and stumpings. I have not missed a series involving Pakistan. I can assure you his wicketkeeping has cost us more than one series loss. He was good in New zealand but that was the only good test series he had a wicketkeeper in a long long time. We need a better keeper IMHO.

Ponting is answering the short ball myth. Really the only guys that will trouble him with the short ball is the express quicks, Asif hasn't looked like troubling Ponting with the short one. Hence Pakistan really should try Aamer if they want to bowl short.

Katich Dropped on 8 made 90 more runs
Watson Dropped on 43 made 50 more runs
Ponting Dropped on 30 .... 20 more and counting...

so the dropped catches has cost us 160 more runs... let alone the fact that those wickets would have taken the momentum away....

Pakistan does not deserve to win matches against top sides. The biggest culprits are the batsman cause they are the close in fielders and they keep on dropping. They don't make runs and they don't take catches. Better go on the field with 4 bowlers and 7 specialist fielders... that will get us a better result.....
