Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

Tamim Iqbal >> Whole Pakistan team

- Nasse Hossain. Legend

Somehow I am expecting that Yousuf or/and Younis Khan will be called back into the Test squad.

Even the bowlers are scoring more runs then the Pakistani batsmen nowadays.

If you're going for youth though...

FAWAD ALAM. Don't even understand why he was dropped from the Test side. Looked really good against Australia last year in the ODIs. And, is probably a better player than Amin and Ali.

Amin has great technique, but he's never played in such conditions before, which is evident as he's struggled continuously. I hope he's not discarded forever, because the talent is there, it just needs to be developed.

I'm on the fence with Ali though, he probably won't succeed at this level, but you never know.

This is a cricket forum where we analyze and criticize players performances.

Strauss is an overly negative captain, even when the ball was swinging madly in the 1st innings he had 4 men on the leg side, 2 saving boundaries.

Not sure why your panties are in a bunch, I realize you might have a man-crush on Strauss but if you can't handle criticism of him then this is not the place for you.

I can handle criticism of Strauss fine, just unbelievable how nobs like you think they have more knowledge than an international cricket captain, bet you've never played anywhere bigger than your back YARD.

So when am I qualified to comment on cricket matters? After I have captained an International team?

Why is Prior taking so long to get to his century? Get to your century and get 'em in for 12/14 overs tonight, which gives us 2 bites of the cherry against the openers. This is painful cricket watching Prior get a single, then stand at the non-strikers end watching Finn block.

Silly approach, he was probably a bit worried he might get out so took every run he could get with the field set so deep. What he should have done is not run, hit the ball a little softer and waited until he got the ball into a gap he could run two. His approach meant if a four ball came along it had to be first ball or he wouldn't be facing, and it meant the run rate slowed down to one an over if Finn didn't score.

As it happens the game was so far advanced that it didn't really matter, terrible cricket that he was playing. Those three Pakistani wickets last night have more or less done for their already anorexic chances. Their batting needs more backbone for sure, maybe had they not conceded 219 for the fifth England wicket 1st innings then their batting could have got away with it though

1st Test - highest partnerships

01. 219 England (1st innings, 5th wicket)
02. 58 Pakistan (1st innings, 7th wicket)
03. 56 England (2nd innings, 8th wicket)
04. 51 England (1st innings, 2nd wicket)
05. 49* England (2nd innings, 10th wicket)
06. 49 England (2nd innings, 7th wicket)
07. 47 England (2nd innings, 3rd wicket)
08. 42 England (1st innings, 1st wicket)
09. 39 Pakistan (1st innings, 9th wicket)
10. 35 Pakistan (1st innings, 10th wicket)

No other partnership has passed 60, England scored 135 runs combined in the other nine 1st innings partnerships. 262/9 would have been the highest score by far had the 219 partnership been less than 60 as the evidence suggests is a way above par partnership

I see, or rather hear, Michael Yawn laying into the decision to play a spinner and putting pressure on the seamers, yada yada yada. Actually Yawn, don't blame the number of bowlers but the CHOICE of playing a spinner in the four. England played a spinner and he hasn't yet taken a wicket or really been needed, so it is more luck and the fact that Pakistan didn't bat or bowl very well.

Yawn should stick to talking ballacks while trying to be trendy and cool. When he came out with "bang bang" talking about taking two quick wickets I was just lucky noone was around for me to die of embarrassment in front of. Please, please, please TMS (and C5) find someone else.

Meh! Pakistan are way out of their league. Time to give their test place to Holland!:p

Oh dear

The only thing predictable about Pakistan is that half the time they are Dreadful

Is that not "consistency"?

I still don't understand how the Pakistani batsmen are failing with the bat and Gul is scoring runs.

Kamran Akmal got a pair and hopefully this will lead to another wicketkeeper being tried.
