Come on. Its a bit harsh to blame Ricky Ponting for the loss. The truth is that Mumbai have never had much sense. Despite getting in the best players, they always screw up.

At the fall of the 3rd wicket ,Pollard should have come in. This is exactly what cost MI the title a few years ago versus Chennai. What is the use of having the best brains if you are still going to employ your old tactics ?

We don't have any other player in the team who can lead the side as of now, Ponting is the best leader... Give him some time :thumbs

There is no denying that. Ponting is the best man to lead them. As for foreigners being made captains, yes they do take up the spot, but a team like MI can afford the luxury here seeing as there is only one vacant spot in their side.
Ponting as captain, Malinga and Pollard are automatic selections, which leaves you with only one spot to fill.

Pollard? Not always,he been in bad form since IPL 4 TBF . BTW this should go in the Mumbai Indians thread :)

^Nah he did not get much opportunities but we can't say it was Ponting's slow batting which lost Mumbai the game because when he got out Mumbai were ahead of RCB on the score basis but the middle was the main reason for the loss other then Karthik every one else just did not support him well.

Big game tomorrow... Is Malinga fit? If yes, he has to miss the game tomorrow. However, the advantage for CSK evens out due to the injury to Faf and the unavailability of Morkel. But still, CSK have a settled side and should be hard to beat in home conditions. Go CSK!!:cheers

One thing for sure - Sachin will receive the loudest cheer at the Chepauk. THAT NEVER CHANGES!!:yes

Who said IPL is a batsman friendly game...
Well done Hyderabad :clap:clap:clap

SRH won the first game despite low total, thanks to Magical spell of Mishra, Awesome death bowling by Steyn :cheers
and obviously Worst T20 partnership between Uthappa-Pandey :facepalm

So-called T20 specialist Ross failed yet again :(

CSK should play with Hussey, Bravo, Hilfenhaus, Chris Morris
and
MI - Oram, Johnson, Ponting, Pollard

Morris has not arrived yet. Him and Morkel arrive only on 8th. It will be Hussey, Bravo, Hilfenhaus and Nannes for tomorrow. This should be the CSK XI tomorrow:

Vijay
Hussey
Badrinath
Raina
Dhoni
Bravo
Aparajith
Jadeja
Ashwin
Hilfenhaus
Nannes

Sachin gone first ball!!!!! Making me rejoice it, what have you done IPL??? Whenever Sachin gets out first ball, a huge sense of depression and disappointment used to happen, now?:(:noway

Great start for CSK!!:cheers

Seems this one is also going to be low-scorer game, pathetic batting by MI... :mad

Though I am with MI, I liked Dwayne Bravo's dance when he took Dwayne Smith's catch :thumbs

Pollard took MI to a fighting total, but still I feel MI fell short by 15-20 runs.

CSK did well although they gave away too many runs to Pollard and Bhajji. Esp. that last over by Bravo. Hope CSK batters clinch this without much tension today.
