The people who say 'Graphics don't matter' are the ones with ugly girlfriends!

Sorry for being offtopic but this really owns :p

But to be back on topic, i am eagerly awaiting the game, expecting it to play at a friends pc. I am a fan of both the games, for both please me, and thats what i buy them for.

Nah uhhhh, PES 08 is PES 07 with a few update graphics and a bit of an extra dribbling control.

Methinks it'll be Fifa's year again, but who knows until both are released fully.

Simon you forgot about the new AI system...

What new AI system?

Here's my thoughts on it. First impression looked a bit rough only time the graphics looked pretty good were in the cut-scenes. Talking about cut-scenes the frame rate is pretty poor in them laggy as hell!

I've played this demo on beginer, regular and top player, beginer obviously easy. Regular felt pretty easy compared to last year, Top Player was more of a challenge.

Gameplay wise theres not much difference to PES6 it still seems slow and I can't see any change in it, don't know what new AI system your on about Drew if its Team-Vision I have barley noticed it. Shooting seems much better the ball doesnt go out the stadium any longer and all the shots arent airborn, plus you can use the powerbar to its max useage now a fully powered shot can still go on target. One more thing which I liked is that the stick you use to control the players (left stick) has that skill thingy PES5 had so it's easier to wiggle around defenders. What else...didn't notice any new tricks, C.Ronaldo still does that flipflap that goes 8ft ahead of him apart from that nothing new, unless theres new combinations!

One other thing headers are way to easy scored 2 against France on Regular, tbh I don't have much to say about this game It definatly doesnt beat FIFA and FIFA doesn't beat this...their totally two different games now I can see PES2008 being fun to play but it's nothing special....of course the fanboys will say its this that and the other but it really isnt.

I'm not saying it's a crap game but compared to the hype I havn't seen anything new besides a menu that looks worse than the previous ones. It would also be nice to be able to change your camera angle, And we no longer have free control in replay mode...Oh and now the players run like Peter Crouch on steroids when off the ball!

Oh and other stuff, sound is pretty good when you shoot and goalie saves it you can hear the thud on his hands, and the goalies themselves are pretty good!

Cool, thanks for that Punk what is this demo on though?

The 360...

Mhh I'm starting to like this more than I do, but I played FIFA after this and it felt so much rewarding this seems really easy to bang in the goals, it's like they've aimed for an arcade simulation!

I reckon this will be fun really need to make it harder, playing as Argentina vs Spain regular right now and at half time my possesion is 70% vs 30%

Now don't say play on top play because I've never owned a good team that much in possesion on Regular...

I'm starting to appreciate the game more though, but the graphics of the pitch look disgusting sometimes up close you can see the pixels its made out of...

I've heard that there are a few framerate issues, slowdown etc. There's been quite a few comments claiming that it isnt a real improvement on PES6, and also, the graphics are fairly poor aswell. Not looking good for Konami if they have been lazier than EA with this game. It'll still be a great game, but i am a little dissapointed from what i've been reading.

Well I've been playing it a lot and my rough conclusion is that this game seems to have taken an arcady route so to speak. I mean it's way to easy on Regular and Professional modes and you can just run through players and score a wonder goal too often.

There are some framerate issues in cut-scenes havn't noticed anything in-game, as a matter of fact the game plays very smoothly and has a slick feel to it I reckon it will be a fun game to play for its own reasons, finally we have two seperate options now!

But we have to remember this is the demo that was shown at Lepzig, but I can't see much change in the gameplay from then to release date...

All the posts dried up in this thread?

Here's a good post from another forum.....lol @ PES > Pinball Enhanced Soccer....

All I have to say is that the general reaction on this thread is the reason Konami and seabass continue you do what they do. How can you be happy with a game on a next gen platform that is basically a PS2 game with slightly improved graphics?

WE / PES whatever you want to call it has made very little progress since WE5 and this is coming from a former PES die hard.

Talk on here about PES featuring realistic physics etc are gobsmacking, the engine is so outdated now it's laughable. They only managed to make it seem realsitic because previous FIFA's were crap but now EA have done what Konami should have done and designed a game for next gen consoles you can really see where Konami's attempt is lacking. Everything going on in the PS3 / 360 version can easily run on the PS2 except for a little shine in the graphics and sound department.

Now I fully expect a backlash from PES fans on here as the fanboyism is even greater on here than the PES specific sites I've been part of for years, at least they realise Konami is not doing enough by a long shot but on here the reaction is teh usual FIFA is ***** kiddie type game and PES is king, real simulation for real football fans type.

FIFA 08' has this year stole the crown IMO and many others who are actually willing to learn to play it as it's own game, and not try and play like PES ( Pinball Enhanced Soccer ). FIFA has taken the real simulation route and done it well, it's a heck of a steep learning curve but once mastered offers so much.

I'll just end by saying I played the PES demo and I actually think it's a blast but it doesn't resemble football at all and I can have virtually the same game game playing PES6 , or 5 or 4 ar any of the Winning Eleven releases. That's my problem there. Not enough has been done to warrant another £30 - £40 purchase and the only way this will change is if Konami see sales are affected which sadly doesn't seem like it will happen. I say this is a dissapointed former TOP 50 ranked PES player but the game has stagnated and needs a new direction not constant tweeks every year.

We'll see. The graphics in pes 2006 are really good if you download lod mixer and put everything on high, @1680x1050 the graphics are very smooth.

Ill download both demo's when they come out.

I'm going to wait a few days so hopefully the demo will download a bit faster with less people trying to get it. The big difference between Pes making little progress and FIFA making little progress is PES doesn't need too.

No no, PES does need to make progress, whats the point buying the new one then?

Just keep playing PES3 or 6.....I think the quote I posted sum's it up perfectly...
