Sachin Tendulkar: Too much talent for a single person.

The bolded ones are true..

I am not sure whether max_dillon has written this after seeing one of the videos of a test match where,

Ravi Shastri or Boycott(some commentator) did this comparison in one of the test matches where he tried inswing and outswing in consecutive deliveries. The commentators had a quite long discussion as they were surprised of Sachin's perfect seam position which Indian fast bowlers did not produce in that test match.

I think, it was a test vs WestIndies.. I am not sure.. but I remember very well that they indeed compared Sachin with other bowlers swing position and said, " Bowlers should get a tip from this man! ". Apart from this one single match, I don't remember Sachin trying for a perfect swing ..

Regarding bowling of Sachin,

Well, the main + point in his bowling is, Sachin enjoys when he delivers to the batsman and thinks(may be 'used to think' an appropriate word) too cunning while bowling. One can never deny that he had bowled many many crucial overs.

This is the best crucial over which I can't forget in my life,

The thing is, " Sachin enjoys bowling " is the term I prefer than calling him as " Best bowler ". If you say him as best bowler, eventhough I am deep hearted Sachin fan, I would say, " No and no! ". He is gifted may be by birth and you can't expect him to be GOD to do all the impossible things.

If he had concentrated on his bowling(rather than enjoying), who knows, he would have lost concentration in batting and may be, he would have been reverese ofPathan i.e, batting getting rusted while trying to concentrate on bowling! ;)

At last some light in the darkness:p. Someone actually doing some effort and seeing the video of sachin to check the facts. Let me put this again" I said, he could have been a good leg spinner, swing bowler(i said could, i never said he is) ". If you watch the videos then you will know he certainely has talent to do. anyway its hopeless talking to those who took Giles for a spinner. No talent whatsoever, just consistent negative line bowling.

There is a big difference in having talnet and using it to excell. Here are two examples:

Brett Lee & Shoiab Akhtar both had natural fast bowling actions, immese talent. Both debuted about the same time. Brett Lee has been a great fast bowler in last 10 years ,whereas Shoiab has fallen apart after the initial sucees. Wasted his talent. Both had talent but only one had used it better.

Mohd. Ashraful also got great potential but his temperament has failed him. So he had wasted his talent too.

Now you understand the meaning of this thread. Sachin Could have been a Great Leg spinner if he used his talent.(Dont you tell me that anyone can become shane warne just by practising coz if that was the case then there wont be a crisis in aussie team after Warne's retirement. It takes some natural talent which you nuture with time and practise). You cannot just walk up to someone and say " Hey we would invest 50000bucks a year in you and all you gotta do is bowl like shane warne, easy money"

A small correction, I did not see in video but I was watching that match LIVE! Even I had posted regarding the same long time back in that match thread in this same PC forum.

And still, you can't say if Sachin had practiced for bowling. Because same thing is applicable for each and every player. If Warne has practiced to bat more, he would have been a best all rounder.

These, " If "s when you put it anywhere, everything will look possible. :readit

The fact is, Sachin enjoys bowling. Whatever you do with involvement, you are likely to get success out of it. Thats what have happened.

Can we have a forum about Collingwood's bottom hand batting technique, trademark 'right hand over' diving catch or his toe crushing pace bowling?

Paul Collingwood - Too much bottom hand for one person?
Paul Collingwood - Too much making a easy catch look amazing for one person?
Paul Collingwood - Too much dibbling of the seam for one person?

Goodness me, this is like having a form about Monty's fielding, considering that Some excelent poitns have been raised:cheers

If Sachin pratice more he can become God or if he practice more he can become invisible or maybe he can become a super hero if he practice flying.

I couldn't quite comprehend how big Tendulkar was in India..But come on he is a part timer. If we created a form about every part time bowler the servers would colapse. Of course if people soley concentrate on one field then they will get better. If McGrath had spent 10 years on his batting he would have moved up. Similarly If Andrew Strauss spent 10 years on bowling, he would be able to send those stumps cartwheeling. In either case, I doubt it would elevate them to the posistion of God

Cutting Shane Watson's grass by taking Watson's wife to the Allan Border medal. You'd expect something like that from Shane Warne. What a great example Sachin Tendulkar is for children worldwide. I think Sachin's gonna be reaaaaaaaaaally angry with you, King Cricket. Considering that you've just exposed him as a home-wrecker. I think he might even deleat your account from his official fansite and ban your IP address from viewing all of his associated websites. I'd be werey if I were you, King Cricket.

Sachin's hands are unusually white aswell. I assume that's mainly from batting and from other unethical activities that Sachin partakes in during his freetime. Come to think of it - I wonder if Sachin wears protection when he isn't batting?

Note: Such discussion should be precautionary discussed when kids under the age of 15 are in the premises. :ninja

I think I've got this back to some realm of decent discussion. I won't hesitate to close this or dish out further infractions.

Lets Hope Saching does not read this thread for Max Dillon's Sake. Bat in Sachin's hand and max's skull will not be a fair match especially against some one as talented as sachin.

is sachin tendulkar way too talented and gifted for a single human???" we shall discuss bout this. Everyone knows bout his batting prowess so that should be out of discussion.

Well apart from batting, sachin is a very good swing bowler, off spin bowler and a leg spinner.

swing bowling: people might not agree but sachin is one of the best swing bowlers in the india at the moment. I am talking bout the talent of swing bowling. He can bowl inswing, outswing, seamers, slower ones, you name it he has it in his armoury. He has perfect wrist position for in swing and outswing. His seam stay dead still when he releases the ball and he likes to keep the ball full when he bowls the swingers. It is only that he is small in physique thats why his swing bowling is not that effective. So sachin could have been a very dangerous swing bowler had he got the physique of lee or bond. So thats second talent apart from batting he posseses.

off spinner: he is not a very deadly offspinner but certainly better that most of run of the mill spin bowlers that england, new zealand, australia(shane warner, macgill being exception) have produced over the years. He has every variation except dussra.

leg spinner: well i am going to make a bold statement here. sachin tendulkar could have been a leg spinner of warne's caliber had he concentrated a little bit more on his bowling. This is one of the greatest regrets that i have. I am not questioning his love for the game, it is just that captains didnt used him enough and thus he never felt urgency to practise his art much. He himself has a lot of time accepted that he often get to bowl directly into a international match after months without practice. Sachin can bowl every bowl that a leg spinner can. There isnt a leg spinner in the world at the moment who extract the amount of turn that sachin gets(warne and macgill are retired). Just ask kiwis how they felt during sachin's charismatic spell on the last day of recently concluded test.
Yes it is true that he is not a very consistent bowler and he will bowls 1 or 2 full toss or loose deliveries in a over, but it is also truse that he will bowl 2 great balls per over which would be unplayable. Thats why he gets the breakthroughs more often that not. Just ask aussies, i remember a odi match in 2001 series in vishakhapatnam. Aussi were crusing for 161/1 in 30 overs chasing down 262. Then came sachin, took 5/32, all five were op order aussies and won the match for india.
Thus leg spin is the greates talent wasted in sachin, if amit mishra or piyush chawla had sachin's leg spinning talent, well then india wouldn't worry bout replacing anil kumble.

So sachin could have been a fast swing bowler, off spinner and leg spinner. Did i mention that sachin is ambidextrous??:d yep, he is right handed batsman but can write with both hands and prefer to write with left hand. Thus he can attack the ball from any side without any worry. Next time watch the match closely, you will find sachin returning the ball with left hand and sometime with right hand.

you make me laugh..
If christiano ronaldo and messi focus little bit more on goalkeeping and defending, they will become iker casillas on the post and maldini in defense..

Look at yourself first before teaching what sachin needs to do. And comparing sachin with warne is like comparing apple and orange. Never did warne reach the height of sachin as a batsman and never can sachin reach the height of warne as a bowler.

If sachin had the talent of kumble as a bowler, he could have won everything for whatever team he would have played. Indeed he could run a one man team.

Sachin is indeed one of the greatest batsman, but there are far more better allrounders than sachin.

Hey Max,

How are you mate?

I appreciate your love and passion on cricket and of Sachin in particular.

Yes. If Sachin was given more opportunities in bowling he would have mastered his skills in this department better. But to say he could have been in the class of Macgill or Shane Warne is going overboard.

Not everybody can be a Sobers, Imran, Sir Ian Botham, Sir Richard Hadlee, Kapil Dev - greatest all rounders of all time. But none of these guys barring Sobers could be anywhere close to Sachin as far as batting is concerned.

I do not know how conversant you are with Sobers. Besides being exceptionally talented left hand batsman, he could bowl a wide range of balls ranging from fast medium (opened the bowling attack) to two type of spin : left arm and wrist spin and was very successful in the bowlng department as well.

Having said that, Sachin purely as batsman is second to none. Sir Don Bradman the Greatest batsman of all time has given his mandate on Sachin .Sir Don also rated Sir Gary Sobers very high as well.
