The ODI squad looks good; but the selection of Matt Prior for the ODIs is a baffling one and one that surely cannot succeed in the long term. He has a poor List A record and his poorer ODI record shows that he doesn't raise his game in ODIs from List A cricket. There is also the small issue of him being a shocking keeper too.

He isn't a shocking keeper. His keeping form was very poor at that time, he isn't normally like that.

He is a dangerous OD player. He scored 130* against Somerset week before last. Good player. Everyone takes time to adjust to international cricket.

Perhaps, but he still has a pretty shocking List A career batting record. He might be able to score one great hundred per season, but England need batsmen who can score consistently.

Statement

This is to Evo, Gas, Skater, Will_NA.
My post #1503, was not directed to any English fans, or to any of you guys, what followed was avoidable. Just want to say publicly that if my post at the time offended any of you, it was not my intention. I know what and how bad a defeat is, come on I am a West Indian, born, bread, raised, me more than, maybe any other would know, we West Indians because or our team (West Indies) have been down the road England is more than any other team in the last 10 years, some of us fans and even our players have grown use to it, that is to say the least.
Just want to say again it was not meant to inflame you guys and I hope we can all move on, in what is truly a universal cricket forum, where we all can agree to disagree.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. We're very forgiving. I don't know why I was mentioned though lol. I never got involved!

Manee, you can't judge a player purely on stats. It really gets on my nips when people do that.

I'd give the VC to Cook in tests and maybe VC to Bell/young player in the ODIs.

Am I the only one who can't understand why Bopara is in the squad over Shah?

Good to see a change of keeper in the ODI's. Deserves to be Mustard though probably. Prior may not be too bad.

I think Bopara and Shah are very much neck and neck for the position. I'm not sure maybe the selectors don't like Shah. Him and Gilo probably didn't get on very well so he's not in. I don't like the fact he is a selector.

I want to See Shah in a test shirt, and i simply can't beleive that in a test thats pretty much pointless, we give some other people a go.

I think it is just because Bopara is a bit higher in temperament than Shah.Selectors have went for Bopara because He is cool and can play long innings where Shah sounds a bit aggressive for this format.

Are you having a laugh vaiby? Shah can play a defensive innings and battle it but also has the ability to turn it on when he needs to!
