South Africa in England

It was a surprise, maybe a shock, to see him in the XI for the game, but he was going to play for England in the end. He is a decent bowler. Earlier last week he was selected in the 30 man preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy.
Decent? Maybe. Test standard? Not from what I've seen of him. As I said, he's spent the majority of his career playing club cricket in Melbourne, I find it hard to believe that in the space of 10 FC games he's proved himself good enough to play for England's test team.

havent replays shown that vaughan's effort was indeed a catch? AB's clearly hit the ground on the other hand

on both occasions the ball hit the ground, Vaughn didnt have his fingers underneath it, perhaps slightly but part of the ball still touched the ground and this will go on and on because its normal for people to be biased. Same with AB eventho his did hit the ground as well....Amla wasnt given out but hes out now, cook wasnt out but he was also dismissed afterwards - end of story. The english people will say Vaughn caught the ball and I will say he didnt, not to be difficult or biased against them but when i saw it I sure thought it hit the ground.

Are we really going to go round in circles discussing things that happened already and cant be changed? Seriously people. Amla eventually got a crap decission against him anyway without making a truckload of runs, so for those who felt he should have been given out yesterday, there you go - sweet revenge.

England are in dire straits at the moment. They already have a lead of 40odd and they will probably be batting till lunch tomorrow (maybe even tea if England really bowl badly).

wow this pitch is looking mighty flat at the moment....Lucky for England they can take the new ball now and Flintoff seems to be the only one who can stop us from getting a really big lead. If he doesnt come good, I see England going to the 3rd test 1 down

Today's forecast was supposed to be rubbish. Oh well, our own fault for batting so awfully. Vaughan has to get a century in this series at some point, or he's out of the team.

Though I think this pitch will remain good for batting throughout, and who knows, maybe we get them out for 400, score 400 ourselves and make them chase 200 on the last day.

If Carlsberg did miracles...

Come on England! I'm still being optimistic though. We can still do this. However, it's one of the great unwritten laws of cricket than whenever you bat in gloomy bowler friendly conditions you can guarantee that when it's your turn to bowl you'll be bowling in bright sunshine and the pitch suddenly looks dead.

Well played Ashwell Prince.

Prince has been outstanding so far in this series, Him and De Villiers kind of running away with it here...England need Wickets fast otherwise I can see The Saffers getting at least a 200 runs lead.

Even though they seem to be going well, it is a bit of a tight period. If they get out now, they will be lucky to make 350 and that will allow England to claw their way back into the game.

angryangy added 17 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

I guess that danger period has passed, SA to make 400.

I havent watched any of the game yet, as I have been in work, and I am going to watch the highlights tonight, can anyone sum up today's play?

.....would hope South Africans play him(Jimmy) well and doesn't lose anymore wickets to him. by doing that SA can give some lead and a lead of about 150 or more wud make me happy :D

just reaching there. .:D yo ashwell and ab .. you guys made me happy :hpraise

Stumps - Day 2: Well played Prince, back to back centuries, I know you have critics keep knocking them down with your bat, leave the flair to others, well played AB maintain that play tomorrow and you too can have a ton, well played SA thus far, just two days gone, still plenty cricket left.
