South Africa in England

Thing is, we should be able to rely on our 3, every team in the world has a 3 who can change an innings. We don't.

England only do any good if Pietersen plays well. That or either they get blown out of the water by quality opposition.

Obviously need another batsman that averages 47-48-49 in Test Cricket to aid Pietersen.

PS: When was the last time a full-blooded Englishmen consistently averaged over 50 in Test Cricket?

But Still point is that Who would do this Job at number 3?
Don't say Bell,as He is not reliable at all though better than Vaughn.
I under stand the concept of number 3 but Currently We don't have anyone who can do this Job for England, not even Shah.
It doesn't mean that Vaughn never should get dropped but I think this man deserve one more chance.

Now again I am contraindicating my own thoughts which were to wards Strauss to open the innings rather now I feel that Vaughn should open following by Strauss at one down.

At this rate SA will win it by an Innings and 7 runs.

Lol, the game is still fresh, plenty of time for Eng to come good with Strauss still in, KP, Bell and Flintoff to come, and who knows, Colly might just follow the captain leads and play aggressive and get a few. The thing is though in my mind, its a bit of pressure on Freddie, he is good, no doubt, but as was in the first innings, he did well with both bat and ball, it can't be expected of him each innings, even if it is expected, it will not always happen, KP I get the feeling that sometimes his aggression is his weakness, you get the feeling that he just must take on every bowler and prove a point, he kind of have that Chris Gayle, Sehwag approach in him, if they get into you they really let you have it, but there is always a chance when they bat.

Shah would do a better job at three currently. In all honesty, i could make 20 against this attack!

If KP can just stick and not let his head explode as usual, he might just aid Strauss.

Vaughan out then?

Strauss (c)
Cook
Shah
Pietersen
Bell
Flintoff
Read/Foster (wk)
Sidebottom
S. Jones
Anderson
Panesar

Keep Ambrose for the rest of the series. Its been a sin for the ECB to quickly chop and change WK'ers.

In all honesty, if Ambrose continues this form, i'd say give GoJo another shot. He's a few seasons olders, few seasons wiser!

But Ambrose only has one shot, and he isn't a terrific wicketkeeper either.

But as i've said, too slap dash with the wicketkeepers. Give him the series then re-assess.

KP looking good atm, hopefully he can continue and make a telling contribution for England cause we need it.
