South Africa in England

And I was giving a reason why Ramprakash simply cannot be considered....
Well, since you follow English cricket more than me, I was implying somebody else to name another batsman other than Ramprakash.

Keep in mind, in that line up I already have Owais replacing Vaughan at 3

Very tight contest at the moment....We might be ahead at the moment with Eng pretty much 40/4 but I do think we need to get Pietersen out and QUICKLY. The game is far from over with Flintoff still to come. if we can get Piet out soon and Collingwood later on without them putting on too much more I think we'll be ok. Wouldnt want to chase much more than 200 on this pitch. Fair enough its a good pitch, but theres a crapload of swing going around and Flintoff's bowling is looking very good.

time for Kallis to strike!

At some point Joe Denly is going to play for England, but not yet.

Pietersen is going good at the crease, just the two scares and come on colly we need a 50.

It's awful watching Pietersen bat in positions like this. You know when he switches it on no bowling attack in the world can get him out cheaply. It's just that you don't know whether or not he'll switch himself on.

Pietersen is showing some patience, so if he were to fail now it would be a lot more unfortunate than all the innings where he has been too impetuous to get past 50.

I wish this whole racial qouta thing in SA never happened....thats the main reason for Pietersen leaving. Imagine we had him to add to our pack....and imagine how feeble England would be without him.

Paul Horton is the answer.

Code:
PLAYER	MT	INNS	NO	RUNS	HS	AVG	100	50	CT	ST

Horton 9 15	752	152	53.71	2	5	6	0

Played half a season for us last year and finished the top run scorer in 4 day cricket, and he is leading again this year, and look at his average.

I was gonna suggest Paul Horton as well. He's a gun. No nonsense opener who doesn't give his wicket away. You have to work hard to get him out.

Great minds think alike.

He has already stated that he wants to do all he can to show Peter Moores that he is capable, he reckons 2 seasons and he will be in for a shout for the team.

Is Horton really more English than Kevin Pietersen, though?

Well, he was born in Australia, but I think he is eligable to play over here now, he has been here for so long.

A little bit about him:

Born and raised in Sydney, he moved to Liverpool and became part of the Lancashire set-up and Under-17 level, where he was captain before taking the same role with the U-19s. A consistent run-scorer in 2nd XI cricket, he struggled to force his way into a strong Lancashire team. However, his chance came in 2007 and he took it with both hands, especially in the Championship where he became solid presence in the top order and was named Player of the Year.

Contest:

Who can drink a cup of tea in under 5 minutes and who can eat a crumpet without getting butter around their mouth.

Of England batsman in the waiting.

Shah and Bopara are known about. My list of others would be:

Hildreth
Horton
Key

All been in good form. Not just over a short period too.

KP going along nicely, Colly is finding form too. *crosses fingers

Sureshot stop saying positive things! You'll jinx us you will. :mad

Rob Key definitely deserves his chance as an opener. Billy Godleman down at Middlesex could be in the frame in a couple of years as well. And you can't forget about Denly either.
