Well done. I'm sure that's a decent payout too.

Sidebottom is frustrating them now. Very handy innings. Especially with bunnies to come. Panesar should be at 11 though if he isn;t already after Anderson's innings last game.

irottev added 4 Minutes and 2 Seconds later...

DeVilliers claims another non-catch. That was closeish so I guess he couldn't see it.

It looks like he got his back fingers under it, but the bottom line is that cricket has conveniently presented an argument for why technology can be a bit useless. We don't have images that are good enough resolution.

So its ended.281 to get.Who`s your money on ?

I don't think it has got anything to do with the resolution. It's the effect of the 3D world being displayed on a 2D screen, and that's gonna be hard to sort out...

That said, something must be done about it since it's happened 3/4 times in this match and also once in the India/SL match.

Yup, it is not about the resolution of the images but due to the 2D nature of the TV screen. That is why you sometimes get different perceptions from different angles. You do not get a perfect idea of the depth of the image.
In one referral this morning in the India-SRL game, with the sideways angle it looked as if the fingers were under the ball but with the front-on angle, it looked as if it bounced.

You`ll see these sort of decisions going against the bowler, more often than not unless it it very clear that it is a clean catch.
That is why I would again like to go back to the Clarke catch at the SCG in the New Year Test this year.
None of the camera angles could give any conclusive evidence and yet the umpire decided to go with what Ponting and Clarke thought and gave it out.
Iam almost certainly sure that had it gone to the 3rd umpire, that would`ve been declared `Not- out` due to lack of conclusive evidence.

I just went back to that incident just to state an example and not to start a flame war like the one in the India-Australia thread.
Please refrain from any comments of that sort about how the decision would have affected the eventual result of that match.

wow what a game! Pity I cant watch much as studies interfere...but I keep cricinfo open on my laptop :P Good contest it seems, finally a close match....I suppose England have a slight advantage over us, simply because they have the runs on the board. SA can however take some positives out of this - so far in this game each innings has produced more runs, meaning its getting easier to bat. I mean even an out of form player like Collingwood could play himself back in form, so all we have to do is be patient and get the 2nd lowest Innings total of the match. Gonna be tough but thats what test cricket's all about ey? :P

I can see South Africa winning this easily. I hope Im wrong. ;)

As a very patriotic South African, I would like to share your views, but unfortunately I have a feeling theres gonna be many twists and turns in this game before this is resolved. Hope you are right tho :P

Monty gets Amla, Hawkeye suggested it was going over the top. I reckoned it would have hit the top of the stumps. Oh well, some you get, some you don't.

203 needed, 2 down...Hmmm. Smith is big wicket.

That was a damn good ball, but I'm very surprised they gave that, usually umpires are very careful about height, though he was very deep.
