South Africa in England

I've said that he had a good knock,

But it isn't the best since the last Ashes, and it certainly isn't the best to the standards of his ability.

Collingwood has hopefully hit a patch. Although, i'll reserve my platitudes until he continues to fail, which i believe he will. I'm often wrong, and I hope I am here, he is a fine English batsmen, and I say English in the way that he has stubborn grit!

The opposition has no bearing on what those knocks are, the West Indies do have a decent pack as do the New Zealanders. Not the best, but the runs there count.

Well what a day, great catching, great batting, and a few switch hits.

Pietersen 226 vs West Indies, 2007
Strauss 177 vs New Zealand, 2008
Vaughan 106 vs New Zealand 2008

If I am not wrong then You were the same people who doubt on Strauss by saying that NZ doesn't have such bowling attack.
And in real yes they do not have.Colly's this innings is still greater than all the innings that you have mentioned.

Viaby, you're annoying me now. How is it better? Because it was against an under-strength South African attack from what i see.

For God's sake it's personal opinion. If he thinks the innings was better than those then it's entirely within his rights to think that.

Well aware of personal opinion. My question was in what way was it a better knock.

Thing is, from what I can see, you're getting wound up by my personal opinion. Which is contradicting your whole arguement.

Nice of you to think that.

When I say it's one of the best innings i've ever seen I don't mean in terms of the brilliance of it, i'm referring more to the fact that a man with no form whatsoever has managed to overcome one fo the best attacks in the world and grind out a fantastic 100.

In no way am I undermining the innings that Lee mentioned as they are all great innings in their own right. But I prefer Collingwood's innings to all of them. Pietersen's double hundred was amidst a good run of form for him and it was on a flatbed of a Headingly pitch as well. Still a good knock though.

Fair enough,

I've not once said it wasn't a good knock, but I just mean that it isn't the best i've seen in a long shot.

I think its one of those which is made better by his obvious lack of runs!

Are you Freddie's secret love child?

You always seem to go on about him and how nice he is. (And looks)

KP is my idol, but I don't go on with it this much :laugh

What I say is, if you like someone like him/her from your heart (I don't mean the sexual way). I've watched Freddie like soo many times, live on TV. And he just makes a good entertaining cricketer, which we all love.

And just for the record, who was saying drop Collingwood?
I'm sure it's a billion pages back by now, I think I said something along the lines of 'if one of them does come good, you've still got 3 guys who won't'. You've got Ambrose in there who has now travelled to 8 and seems unlikely to be dropped. Flintoff, though batting at seven, is almost entirely in for his bowling and unlikely to be dropped for any lack of runs. Vaughan, hah, they'll never drop him, he'll be older than Bob Simpson when he retires. So you've got all these players who are apparently essential, but who scores runs in the meantime? In an ideal team, you can carry one or two struggling batsmen, but England don't have that situation. I don't really think that ideal team would even be an ideal team with all those players doing nothing. I'd prefer to make concessions for Collingwood, but the fact is that he is clearly not untouchable.

Obviously Colly is good for atleast another few tests now, Vaughan needs to be sent back to County Cricket. Some may argue that he has never been good there, and will only dent his confidence. But, obviously being sent back does some good. Collingwood/Harmison are perfect examples, hell look at Flintoff. Had a good season in the CC thus far and has returned at full pace and full aggression!

Time back in CC works!

Good to see we have a game on our hands. Sadly Collingwood scored runs because I really don't like him.

Is that because of the run out incident? As Collingwood didn't break any laws and New Zealand won anyway.

And, Murali succumbed to it, which most NZ'ers forget somehow. Conveniently some would say.
