South African Tour of India 2010

not that i want him back but why isnt RP singh playing ?

Nehra is currently doing a RP. So we will have to wait for some more matches where we can see RP doing a Nehra. Selectors are so generous.

Irfan Pathan >> RP Singh, Ishant and Nehra

He can bat, bowl and field. Gives his 100% everytime. :)

Rotation policy for bowlers. Just like for indian stadiums.

That means he is now eligible once again. Btw, IPL reminded me Atul Sharma ? Will he play this year :p

Ask Ian Pont. :facepalm:facepalm

exactly. its high time we get him back. if he doesnt take wickets...atleast can make it up in the batting and fielding dept.

We should sign treaty with Pakistan to import export players. That will benefit both teams.

The world cup squad is becoming harder and harder to choose because of our fast bowlers. For now, I would choose this:

Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
Yuvraj Singh
Virat Kohli
MS Dhoni
Suresh Raina
Irfan Pathan
Harbhajan Singh
Zaheer Khan
Player X

Ravindra Jadeja
Praveen Kumar
Sudeep Tyagi
Ishant Sharma
Amit Mishra
Manish Pandey

If Irfan Pathan's pace is still down then he will come in for either Virat Kohli or Suresh Raina and not play from 8-11. However, to replace one of Virat Kohli or Suresh Raina, he will be competing with Ravindra Jadeja.

Holy crap! What did these guys do to screw up this much? I definitely expected India to make things interesting but winning by just 1 run, CRAPPY HELL!!!

Where are guys like Pradeep Sangwan, Yomahesh, etc who were all looking really good with the U-19 World Cups, IPL, etc. If Sreesanth and Nehra can bowl this bad, WHY NOT IRFAN PATHAN? WHY NOT SUDEEP TYAGI? Sreesanth should be spanked. When the likes of Dale Steyn are hitting 140+ inspite of a slow pitch, Sreesanth is bowling dibbly dobblies at 128kph (and they will say 'we bowl according to how fast/slow the pitch is'). Something is seriously wrong with the way the Indian fast bowlers are mentored. And now, we have even lost our stronghold on the spin department. We have the talent to do well (I will never agree with surender's extreme reactions) but we need proper mentoring. Our selectors are idiotic. They pick fast bowlers in the team to serve drinks (Tyagi, Mithun all are doing that).

Anyways, this is still a satisfying win considering that we didnt have Gambhir and Zaheer Khan (who are recent years ODI stalwarts) and also a certain Yuvraj (just to please sid:p).

What are you smoking? :sarcasm

Impressive late hitting by the lower order guys, just a shame they couldn't finish the job. Been a long time since I've seen an even ODI match.

The ball which went for four after hitting the stumps proved a big moment. That was incredible. It it the stumps so hard and from the side.

In the last few years I think itve seen 3 or 4 instances of the ball hitting the stumps and the bails not dislodging. It also happened in the NZ v Bangladesh series in one of the ODIs I think. The ball hit the bail on the stump on that occasion, the bail spun/jumped a bit and stayed in the groove.

I feel Dravid's experience and skill is something we cannot afford to miss in such a crucial tournament. Among the strokemakers in the middle order, Dravid can stand tall and hold fort. He did pretty well in the limited opportunities presented to him in the CT etc.

I'd open with Sachin and Sehwag. Wouldn't make the same mistake again and play SRT in the middle order. Gambhir would come in at 3, Dravid at 4, followed by Yuvraj and Dhoni. The number 7 spot is up for grabs - between Nayar, Jaddu, and Irfan. Jadeja has looked good but I do not think he is a player to bat so low down the order. His bowling has improved leaps and bounds, however, and would make for a very useful second spinner. I'd play Irfan at 8 regardless, with Harbhajan the specialist offie. Zaheer will get the new rock and will be relied heavily upon for leading the attack. The third seamer is worrying.

Kohli and Raina are good enough to bat in the World Cup for India's batting order. This would be my batting lineup

V Sehwag
S Tendulkar
G Gambhir
V Kohli
Y Singh
MS Dhoni
S Raina

Dravid would only come in if we have a major injury to one of our key players (Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj).
