it does. but we also thought australia had a reserve team that would dominate cricket. spain are blessed with incredible players in every position, but the foundation of their success has been building a midfield round Xavi and Iniesta, who know each other intimately and are brilliant. if you look at a lot of their other superstarts (torres, Silva, villa, Casillas) they're getting worse, not better. lets see how they do with their warne and mcgrath.

Damn what a superb game from Diego Costa. Ran Ramos & Pepe absoutely ragged tonight. He is surely stepping up now that Falcao.

If he keeps this up Spain & Brazil will be battling even harder to get him to play for either team en route to next years world cup.

Only Torres & Villa have gotten worse really - Torres more so obviously. Silva is still Man City's most creative force & he is just injured ATM. Casillas is still world class - he is going through a weird period in his career where after bein the man who started Madrid's revolt against Mourinho last season - Diego Lopez has been keeping ahead of him even now during Ancellotti.

Personally i won't put my head on block to say for 100% sure the talent young Spanish players will continue to dominate because of your AUS cricket team example. But i'd at least expect them to do what Italy, Germany have done for more than 50 years & become EURO team in tournaments. Cause lets not forget Spain before 2008 was like England - full of talent at club level (Madrid & Barca always being glamor clubs) but never could unite at international level.

oh, yeah, definitely, I don't see them slipping back into the days where guys like morientes, hierro, pep and the like where really good at club level and totally anonymous at international level. just think they'll dip a little without xavi and iniesta in the short term.

Bale as center forward & Ramos in mid-field?. Clearly the classico wasn't one of Ancelotti's greatest tactical moments.

They way Ancelotti is treating Bale, is bringing back some memories at his time at Chelsea, when he entered job and was given a mega signing (Torres) that he didn't ask for.

TBH,Barca deserved to win the game. Not taking into consideration about the referrer's decisions.

Barca spread the play very well and cleared the ball at dangerous times.Real played with too much stars in the team. They very constantly getting caught up front and could not keep up with the high pressure.

It's quite clear they didn't need him, regardless of the manager. There is no place in the team for so many players like himself, Ronaldo AND a striker - plus Di Maria has been amazing so is an automatic starter this season. They needed Suarez so much more.

I have no idea why he wouldn't try Ronaldo as a CF instead of Bale.

Yep. There is no space for so many selfish players in the team.

He tried it in preseason and Ronaldo didn't like that experiment because there wasn't enough space for him to run into.

Martino out did Ancelotti tactically I thought, and that Sanchez goal, damn son. :yes

Think Ancelotti got his balance wrong. Heavy defence, Heavy attack and an uncomfortable midfield. Bale was nowhere near good, agree it was his first clasico and now he'd have an idea of what to give to win against Barca at home. Illaramendi should've started, Barcelona outran madrid in midfield easily. Ramos got burnt up.

Also Malaga - Celta. No comment.
