Who will win the La Liga this season?

So Simeone has the same number of trophies that 'The Special One' has at Madrid.:spy

And he's going to get sacked, after winning the league title the previous season, doesn't that remind you of a certain someone? A certain scarf lover... a certain scarf lover that you thought was wronged. :rolleyes

Well, I am against Mou's sacking personally. He's a very good manager and has done well with difficult egos in the past. Real seems to be too big for him too handle though..

The Copa wasn't an easy trophy to win, Atletico were thirsting for revenge and like I pointed out, Real haven't won the Copa at the Bernabeu for ages.

Fair enough I suppose...

He didn't do a bad job, but he has left a trail of mass destruction though.

Like I said, this doesn't seem to be Mou's fault completely.

the thing wrong with thinking like that is it's winning world cups and european trophies that put players on that strata of world class. that article looks at 2008 spain completely through the lenses of hindsight.

the article talks about replacing the genius of xavi and xabi. in 2007, the year before the euro win neither xabi or xavi (or any of the spanish team apart from torres) made the 28 man shortlist for the world player of the year. in 2008 Xavi was 5th and 4 other spaniards were in the top 10. what a difference a tournament win can make.

sure, replacing world leading players should be very difficult, but if they win in 2014 then the likes of mata, silva and martinez will simply be elevated to the "worlds best" level in the public opinion. if I ask myself if spain have obvious weak spots? I think, hmmm, not really. that said I still fancy germany for 2014.

It's great to see how much presentation has improved over the years. These are all things that we were thinking as viewers, but we didn't have the tools to show it, and didn't have the people (i.e. Gary Neville) who were actually smart enough to see it and not make obvious, generic comments like Shearer, Hansen, and Redknapp.
