Benzema is a forward. Zidane was an attacking midfielder. You can't compare the two really. Benzema should become one of the world's best, he's clinical, and has a knack of scoring great goals.

But, now that he's gone to Real, he'll probably fail. :p

Scroll down and you will find every player who joins Madrid get screwed :p First time, it is dream to join madrid and later it is nightmare :p

Here's an actual genuine question Vaughan, what's Sergio Sanchez like? Is he a Premiership standard full back?

Are you talking about the Espanyol bloke? If yes then I have seen him play just once. He actually played a season for Castila (our B team) and he hardly got to play because Miguel Torres was the obvious first choice, and was forced to play in his limited appearances in the center of defence.

So, to put it short, he has not shown anything to suggest he is good enough for the top flight. He was "highly rated" for a brief period in between when he was playing for Racing or Zaragoza, but that seemed to die out before the season ended. He was part of the U-21 Spain team and if I remember correctly, Unai Emery was after him not so long ago.

I'll make it even simpler for you. Sergio Ramos, whom you think is useless, keeps Miguel Torres out of our starting lineup, the same Miguel Torres who kept Sergio out of the B team. So....Ramos has to be a god for Sergio to be any good.

Just heard that Alberto Bueno is on his way to Valladolid. I hope its one of those deals where we can buy him back whenever we want or we could be losing yet another talented youth team lad.

Not at all impressed by the display today. Noone really did anything. First game after the off-season, so I guess its fine. But Pelligrini made a mistake with the strikers. He should play one between Raul/Higuan and Benzema/Negredo at any given point of time. He did the exact opposite and it did not help.

Good to see VDV giving it his all to try and remain at the club but I think its a bit too late and if he wants regular first team action he should leave.

The system looks like it can work though. Kak? will come in for Guti. Ra?l will obviously shift to the left, and Benzema will start up-front.

Just need to learn how to defend effectively as a unit, and they might actually win something.

Found out about this last night. It's shame for someone so young and promising to die so suddenly. RIP.

The game of two halves. I have never seen Villa as invisible as he was today and Del Bosque for the final 20 minutes or so had a midfield represented by Cesc and Marchena. Riera's strike was bloody brilliant.

Pelligrini started with Kaka, Guti and Alonso last night. I think this is one of the options during the season against teams that pack up the midfield like Valencia for example. Ronaldo can then operate as a striker-cum-winger, but those three central midfielders will be the key. Not sure why he would play that against Sociedad though.
