I agree buddy. Chappel has done a fantastic job with this team. Series against SA will be a great one because they did the same against NZ as India did against SL.

I can't wait for this series. India and SA beat the number 2 and 3 teams respectively. So this contest could be an unofficial battle for 2nd.

well for Indian fans, this will be a battle for pride :happy .

Kris Srikanth said yesterday that india only miss one thing, and that's why they can't be as consistent as australia -- wicket taking bowlers

is it true

I take you want Nehra back? ;)
After Singh debut game I think you may have found one that can take wickets.

i don't care if india keep wining and nehra doesn't play, or even the entire team changes, btw, nehra missed all matches after zim tour due to injury and he wasn't dropped, clear from him not playing challenger series and duleep trophy

most important is india winning

but srikanth said a lot,
he said that aus have always had gr8 pacers mcgrath,gillespie,... and gr8 spinners like warne, etc.
they have wicket-takers for all conditions and always take early wickets

and he said that in response to a question on phone at a review show

the question was,
you said in last match, cricket is about uncertainty, but if you see australia they have consistency in winning why doesn't this happen with india

his reply
i think the main problem(yeah he said 'problem' :rtfl) with australia is that they have match winning bowlers who can take wickets in all conditions,............ the moment india get .....................

btw, you know what he said only if you see DD Fourth umpire, which i think is shown only in India

India's got the batsmen, they have improved a lot in thier fielding ( they use to be rubbish in the 90s), India has got wicket taking bowlers, they have got, Pathan, Z khan, Santh, Rp Singh, Nhera, VRV Singh, Jp Yadav, Agarkar, H singh, Kartic and others. The Indian bowlers are capable of taking wickets, but it would be really good if they keep the runs down!, and all the bowlers come in form.

Not with Ian Chappell at the helm. He will keep India grounded after this great series win and make sure they keep improving on parts of their game which isn't up to scratch.

A typo! Its Greg Chappell

the thing is, India has those wicket taking bowlers. But the thing we need to perfect on is, CONSISTENCY! Thats the big word that needs to be embossed into each and every player that plays for India!

Irfan is a wicket taking bowler, Agarkar is a wicket taker, RP Singh is an attacking wicket taking bowler, Sreesanth is a wicket taking bowler. We do not have any bowlers right now who are more intent on containing batsmen than taking wickets! All are wicket takers! But we show only glimpses of our process. We need to improve our consistency to match up with Australia!

Now I can see that our consistency is improving. Also building a pool of players is definitely helping. Some one from the team is coming to the party in each match! We definitely are on the right path for having a perfect team in place! Our performance against SA, PAK and ENG are going to be the real test of how far this team can go!

Yep India will be tested by the tours that lie ahead. Pakistan, South Africa and England are difficult oppositions.

A big loss for the lankans, ahead of the test series.

Just to let you know about the stats for the 7th odi in Baroda. Thier has been 5 matches played at this ground and India have won it 3 times, the oppenent who as won the toss has only won it twice, oppenents batting first has won it 2 times while oppenents batting second has won it 3 times.

The ave score batting first is 284-6 off 50 overs. ( good batting track)
The ave score batting second is 259-6 off 48.4 overs.

The situation is going to change tomorrow.. If India wins the toss, I am sure they would go for fielding first as the early assistance for the fast bowlers would be to India's advantage and their ground fielding will flummox the Lankans.

Sehwag - a final shot at a big score! If he fails again, this guy needs to be put on serious notice and should soon receive the same fate that Saurav Ganguly is going through now!

I think at the moment only Dravid, Tendulkar and maybe Dhoni are definitely going to be selected (in competitive games) every match. The pacers including Pathan are not 100% sure of their place, and neither will the spinners be as outside India only one spinner is likely to be chosen. So, it will be hard to chose between Karthik and Harbhajan.
