These two are the most sound technically in the line up. Little disappointed to see the pace at which the Lankans are bowling.

Imagine if SL had a decent bowler at the other end that Gamage is all over the place in what looks like the most helpful condition a bowler can ever ask for maybe it would have been 0 for 3 or even more.

I hope we prepare similar pitches for other matches even if we fare badly. It will be a good preparation for our overseas tour where the opponents will be much tougher.

Good spell from Lakmal, but his pace is down. If you have someone doing this at even 10 mph quicker, it's unplayable and 90 mph bowlers, or at least 85 is something all leading sides have. I think SL themselves have some cracking quicks.

Yeah the likes of Dhammika Prasad and even Nuwan Pradeep are missing who are almost around 80 - 85 mph especially the former who one was instrumental in Sri Lanka winning a series in England couple of years back and did well in that 2015 series vs India.

Dhawan and Rohit should not be anywhere near test team but unfortunately won't happen.

I wanted to ask everyone something-

Not very long ago, a young man scored a triple hundred and was replaced by Rahane on the basis that he had done a lot more historically and deserved to slot right back in. Isn't that the same situation with Dhawan and Vijay?

What's changed? The coach certainly has.

Karin Nair lost form after that which clearly justified that he had lost his touch. You can't allow a player to walk into the side on the basis on one knock even if they are making low scores in following Tests. I agree it's ridiculous Rohit is in the team, but it would seem seemingly unfair considering he hasn't done much wrong to be dropped.
However, this selection of Dhawan over Vijay is clearly a friendship thing, Dhawan is now called an aggressive opener based on a couple of knocks against SL and WI and a 60 against NZ. If Dhawan is first choice overseas our team is doomed. Vijay is a REAL Test opener and he has played some very good knocks in SA and Australia. Dhawan's frailties will be exposed on those bouncy tracks and that's that. That left - right hand combination is a load of crap as well, one team only the best openers should play, and that should be Rahul and Vijay, with Dhawan 3rd choice.
