I'm horribly late.

Colin Croft

Yeah, this is a West Indian side here...if @Aislabie or another mod/admin can edit this post to put in my team thus far I really would appreciate it. Many thanks to anyone who does. Falling asleep on myself here.

1. :aus: :bat: Matthew Hayden
2. :hkg: :arwk: Anshuman Rath
3. :sri: :wkb: Kumar Sangakkara
4. :wi: :bat: Everton Weekes :slvo:
5. :wi: :ar: Viv Richards
6.
7. :pak: :ar: Shahid Afridi
8.
9. :wi: :bwl: Andy Roberts
10.
11. :wi: :bwl: Colin Croft

12th man -

Pre-List A picks :slvo: 1/1 :tick:
Associate picks :redo: 1/2

That's a serious side you've got there
- Aislabie

Thanks to @Aislabie for the edit. I was actually about to do it myself this evening. Now that I'm seeing my batting order, yeah it's shaping up to be a really good team. Need to fill in another couple of roles though. Hopefully things can still go my way with the rest of the Draft and I get some of the players I have in mind.

EDIT: I have TWO of the original awesome foursome, plus a hard-hitting top order. Do not count Everton Weekes out for rapid runs. And Shahid for some late aggression. Now it's about consolidation. And a little bit of some unusual picks on my part. Gonna enjoy this.

DOUBLE EDIT: May possibly swap Weekes and Richards before the Draft is over. Depends. Both are excellent at number 4. Weekes had the benefit of two other W's to partner with. Viv...well, he's Viv. So wonderful to have this debate with myself.

My team so far
1) :aus: :bat: David Warner
2) :sri: :ar: Tillakaratne Dilshan
3) :aus: :bat: Gregg Chappell
4) :zim: :wkb: Andy Flower :redo:
5)
6) :aus: :bat: Michael Bevan
7) :ind: :ar: Kapil Dev
8) :ind: :bwl: Ajit Agarkar
9) :eng: :bwl: Hedley Verity:slvo:
10)
11) :saf: :bwl: Allan Donald

I feel the team is shaping up well with good balance. I think it just lacks some firepower in pace department and I have a vacant number 10 slot for which I have 2-3 options in the back of my mind. Let's see if they would still be available at the time of my next pick.

Can't afford a write-up at the moment, but does :saf: :bat: Barry Richards really need an introduction? One of the finest talents of his era and quite possibly of any era, Richards' career was spent in international wilderness due to justified reasons.

Still, Richards struck 16 centuries in List A cricket back when even ten of them were a big deal, averaged 40 on par with the top openers of his time and there is no doubt that his aggressive style of batting would translate well to any era let alone the 70s.

He was my next pick; I'd become pretty convinced that he was going to slip under the radar. Admittedly, I had become concerned that I'd just end up picking an apartheid South African XI, which is not a period of cricket I want to glorify too much

I'm still expecting you to land up with the other 70s opener.

Hmmm... I have two 70s openers on my list of targets; one was my 6th placed target but I keep holding him back because I think he'll slip under the radar

Now I'm going to take my number three, as I think I still need batting help, and luckily the first guy that came to my mind is available. I've recently read a summary of the 2007 World Cup and it seemed like this guy was doing a rescue job when his openers failed every single game. And almost every time he was successful. Ian Bell, maybe more noted as a number four, but he will play three here (unless I also bump Javed and RtD down with my next pick).

1. :wi: :bat: Gordon Greenidge
2. :wi: :wk: Shai Hope
3. :eng: :bat: Ian Bell
4. :pak: :bat: Javed Miandad
5. :ned: :ar: Ryan ten Doeschate :redo:
6.
7. :eng: :ar: Gilbert Jessop :slvo:
8. :saf: :ar: Shaun Pollock
9. :aus: :bwl: Brett Lee
10.
11. :eng: :bwl: Derek Underwood
