Hussey is worthy of the VC status, but hodge.. why the heck is he there, he is pathetic bring in Marsh, Voges or North or any other decent domestic middle order batsman heh, bit WA biased there but what the heck!, Hodge is too old and crap at ODIs, why Jaques was dropped is beyond me.. and Hopes?? they need to rethink this team, Dorey shouldnt of been subbed out im sure he would of recovered..grr

Well Aus continue this rotation policy this time resting Ponting. Hodge comes in to replace him. I can't believe Jaques hasn't been given another go. That would be a good rotation move.
McGrath also seems to be rested again.

Hodge! I'm not sure why they selected him. He scores so slowly. I would love for him to prove me wrong but atm I can't see him shining in the next ODI with a quickfire century. And you are right about Jaques, Him and Lee where the only reasons the Aussie's where able to beat South Africa. The selectors can go on all they want about "rotating" but if that stops new talents (Jaques) who have performed well making way for older players (Katich or Hodge) who are out of form or newer players who are going to get killed then the Aussies might need to re-consider their selection panel

Wouldn't say Hodge scores slowly, he made the 20/20 hunderd in only 54 balls i think.

Just a tiny bit biased :) I agree with you on two things, Hussey is definitely worthy of a VC role and Jaques being dropped was one of the worst things that the Aussies could have done. However I think Dorey would have still being getting smashed around without being subbed. He was bowling the wrong length to Jayasuria and was getting hammered for it. Atleast he was subbed for Hoggy who bowled well.

And Kodos, I hope your right about Hodge and he doesn't score slowly.

As a neutral (well kind of) I don't think that dropping Jaques after 94 was that wrong. But in this context it was. Katich doesn't have the best of records in ODI's, let alone as an opener. If it was the Aussie side of 2003 say, and Jaques was dropped after that for Hayden, it wouldn't be looked on as a bad decision. But in this context with Katich it was. Australia have to be careful, there are rumours that Gilchrist could be moved down the order when he returns, which means 2 un-natural openers. Sounds like bits-n-pieces players to me. Anyone else got a view on my opinion?

I think your right about the opening pair. The Aussies can't afford to have two inexperienced players opening the batting. I think when Gilly returns he should open with Jaques. Having a youngster and an old experienced player in my mind is a good opening partnership.

As I have said before, Gillespie didn't really bowl that bad in England, he just had a few off games. He wasn't taking wickets, but his economy wasn't too bad, I mean it was a lot better then the bowlers who were going at 8's and tens last night.

ROFL

Yeh ok.

Where's Tait?

yeh but who wasnt getting smashed hah, the selectors need to rethink the side
katich -drop him, had problay 3 decent games in the last 20
hayden -dropped for bad form, now he is in great form, great aggresive opener
jaques -??? what more does someone have to do? debut match, holds the team together
hopes -pathetic bowler and a poor batsman, Watson better replace him
hodge -bring in a new face

i m not sure about Martyn opening, im a huge huge fan of him but i think with no gilly he is forced to go for the huge slog which results in him getting out because he isnt a slogger so

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Martyn
Clarke
Symonds
Hogg/Watson
Lee
Dorey
Tait
Mcgrath

no room for jaques but he could be super sub and gilly could move down or he could, i dont see much problem in that

Interesting...

Hopes has held the bottom order together for the last two matches, I wouldn't call him a pathetic batsmen. I don't think Marto should open, Unfortunately for him slogging doesn't seem to be his natural game. I think number 4 or 5 is good for him. I'm not sure about Dorey for Jaques though. There is also Gillespie who I think deserves a recall. Dorey proved that he can make breakthrough's under pressure (Pollock) but hasn't showed us that he can peg back aggressive batsmen (Jayasuria) I think I would still give him a run for a coupla games and see how he goes, He could always be super-sub.

yeh dizzy should get called up i take it you mean 'dorey or jaques' not 'dorey for jaques'?

This could be there best possible combination-->>

Gilly
Marto
Punter
Clarke
Symmo
Hussey
Watson
Hogg
Lee
Tait (1)/Bracken(2)/Dorey(3)
Mcgrath

Super Sub -->> Not sure (Could be anyone)
